The Square Enix Avengers Project: What Do We Want to See?

If Thanos is the main antagonist I'd love to see a scenario where if certain conditions are met and Thanos gets the completed infinity gauntlet he would snap his fingers and the game would uninstall. How's that for a real game consequence to our actions?

A GaaS driven online only multiplayer game where like Destiny, the Division and Anthem the majority of the "content" will come from you and your friends grinding, replaying the same bunch of missions over and over again.

Considering Square's track record this gen, I'd rather just see news that it got handed off to another developer. Maybe Platinum or Capcom if Disney lets them have creative freedom.

Square hold the record of one of best MMORPG out there if not the best. And FFXV is one of most well optimized game on PC by third party, in addition, KH3 is one of best gameplay ever so is Nier Automata and both are action intensive.

Let's not forget that ports and remastered ben well served to the fans across the platforms, moreover, World of FF, DQXI and OT are the best JRPG in this gen along with Perosna 5. Also, they did ok job with VR and well supported 4k and HDR technologies.

Square holds the record for ridiculous development time and releasing unfinished products more than anything. FFXIV only took a complete overhaul and a few expansions to get to where it was enjoyable. FFXV has one of the worst stories in the series, along with the most boring gameplay. On top of that, there were huge gaps in the story at launch until dlc arrived.

KH3 is a good release for them mostly but I wouldn't say the gameplay is above average. Nier Automata was developed by Platinum games, Square only published it.

So yeah, I wouldn't consider them a great developer anymore. They have a few gems here and there, but it's too few and far between compared to their SNES and PSX days. But hey that's just my opinion :D

All I want is an open world single player action RPG, similar to FFXV but with better story.

I want a heavy multiplayer influenced, team based, arena shooter with multiple maps that are set in the MU, with a bunch of unique Avenger characters old and new to be playable.

Maybe with a Collect the Gems type game mode where each gem you collect grants you some type of power/skill.

I just want to see how it'll work and the general gameplay loop. Imagine traversing a landscape and fighting as Iron Man or Thor as opposed to Captain America and Black Widow. Why would you ever pick the latter two?

If it's a loot based game, what is the loot? Barely any single heroes share the same weapon types and abilities.

Perhaps you're not fighting as famous heroes but an avatar from multiple class types. Maybe that's a way they'll get around that but I imagine most of us want to play as Dr Strange or Spider-Man if given the option.

So yeah, lots of questions on how it'll work mechanically and in terms of game design so I am definitely interested in seeing at least the first set of footage to get a taste.

The semi-rumoured Guardians game would be awesome as an open world single player action-adventure with drop-in drop-out. That at least on paper makes more sense to me.
