Resident Evil 2 Microtransactions - Are There Microtransactions in RE2 Remake?

From GameWatcher: "The Resident Evil 2 Remake is out just this month and we're hugely excited, but a lot of people are concerned about additional DLC purchases in the game. Are there Resident Evil 2 Microtransactions?

There's been talk about them for a while, but if Resident Evil 2 does have microtransactions, then what could they be? If not, why do people think they're there? We've got the definitive answer to the question if Resident Evil 2 has microtransactions. Hopefully you'll like it..."

What the hell was this?

"We've got the definitive answer to the question if Resident Evil 2 has microtransactions."

They didn't "definitively" answer this question at all. They just made a guess that the MT's would only be so people could purchase the exclusive Special Edition items if they didn't buy that edition of the game lol. This is only a guess as there is no confirmation that's what it is.

Hes basically confirmed there will be

I agree, they don't have the definitive answer because review copies haven't been distributed yet as far as I'm aware

So, is DLC considered the same as like mobile micro transactions? While both are technically a micro transaction I consider DLC separate because it’s a one time buy and keep where as mobile micro transactions are consumables you can keep spending money on and once used they’re gone.

The reason I’m asking is “DLC” is nothing new to this series it’s been going on since the online marketplace was conceptualized. RE5 had mission DLC and mercenaries DLC. When these people are complaining and about micro transactions in RE2 and I read that it’s items included in the Deluxe Edition that seems more DLC to me at which point I have to ask, “What’s the big deal?”

CorndogBurglar2351d ago (Edited 2351d ago )

Because there are people that believe that games should be released with all content included and the only DLC that is acceptable is content that is released well after the game launches, just so we know it's more of an update rather than the company having a bunch of finished content that they held back at launch so they could charge extra for it. I can't say that is wrong at all. Especially in single player games.

I'm not necessarily against that. But at the same time there are very few games that do that. On the other side, the price of games has not increased since the Xbox 360 released. That's almost 15 years. I'm fine if companies want to offer extra costumes or cosmetic items like that. Things that are totally optional.

But again, there are people that are against even that and think all content should be included or unlockable through gameplay at launch. I donxt disagree, but the industry has changed and I think an level of compromise is justified. It's just up to our judgement to determine when something is going a bit too far.

If its a lot of cosmetics, guns and gameplay boosters splattered all over the games store day one via microtransactions etc I wont day one this game.

If it's simply on the box just because the deluxe version has an extra outfit or something i'd be more willing.

Hmmm. I feel that MTs, if they are in RE2, will be for Mercenaries mode.

Not a huge deal, as I'll be playing for the SP campaign, but it would be nice to know the details before release.
