Why Far Cry Spin-offs Are Amazing

The Far Cry spin-offs really get creative. From Blood Dragon to New Dawn, it seems like an opportunity to do new things. When it comes down to it, that's just awesome.

I do like how wild and over the top the spin offs are. They seem to be a lot more creative than the main game.

But I think it's time we got a full fledged Blood Dragon Far Cry in 80's, early 90's glory

-Foxtrot1950d ago

The only good one has been Blood Dragon and that was reasonable priced and was a standard DLC expansion to the main game

The others have been full priced cash grabs but at the end of the day whether it’s good or bad they need to be kept as ideas for new IPs.

Andy_Dee1949d ago

If they only would be kept to new IP's then you can already assume that ubi would never keep on making them like this :p

So if one would be bad it is better to release it as a new ip instead of selling it on a famous name? Buiseness wise no.

If a spin off succeeds then sure, make a new franchise of it but otherwise stop milking them and just don't do them at all. Or at least let them rest for a while!

It's a lot easier to convince higher ups to take a risk making things wacky when you're reusing like 99% of assets that were already created for another game. Not saying that as a bad thing, i love it. If every far cry is accompanied by a wacky spinoff, i'd be the guy loving the spinoff series rather than the core titles

Primal was amazing, the best.

WitcheRivia1949d ago

Far Cry 2 was the last good Far Cry. It went to shit after that.

Hardiman1949d ago (Edited 1949d ago )

I'm with you on that. I know it's an unpopular opinion but it still looks better than the newer ones and it was hardcore as hell! When I first popped in 3 I was legit like "what the shit" because there was a noticeable downgrade!

Titan fall 2 was chefs kiss. For those of you who haven't played it go ahead. Brilliant. With each level being creatively different.

Island, Steins;Gate Elite and Soma.

MadLad324d ago

Soma is an epic experience.

jznrpg324d ago (Edited 324d ago )

Does ISLAND have English subs ? I can’t find a copy that says it has English subs for PS only the Switch version which I rather not buy .

Love Steins Gate and Soma

shinoff2183324d ago (Edited 324d ago )

FRom what i could find. Nothing with English subs.

Yui_Suzumiya322d ago

I own a physical copy on Switch and it does have English subtitles so it's all good on Switch and Playstation.

Yui_Suzumiya322d ago (Edited 322d ago )

My bad. Steam and Switch have English but PS4 and Vita only have Japanese. Sony doesn't mess with many visual novels which is why I only own a Switch OLED and laptop for all my games.

What a shitty f***** list! Most of the games on it were great fun. Bullshit list.

chantii_mmohaven468d ago

yep this is truly a b*tthurt list :/

MadLad467d ago

I think the only one I agreed on was Anthem, and even that isn't horrendous.

Knushwood Butt468d ago

Anthem; I'd forgotten that game existed. I remember thinking the trailer was BS though; turns out I was right.

Cueil467d ago

the game wasn't bad though

RavenWolfx467d ago

"Worst big budget games" and immediately lists Genshin Impact, a game that has $4 billion in revenue.

blackblades467d ago

$3 billion and counting along with alot of users. I disagree with that being on the list. This list is just a person opinion without merit

monkey602467d ago

I havent played Genshin Impact and Mafia 3 was alright. The rest though I kind of agree with.
I loved the 1st Kane and Lynch and I could not understand how the 2nd game was as bad as it was.
