Really great list, top games mate!

IamTylerDurden11974d ago (Edited 1974d ago )

God of War is the best looking game ever made imo. Played on Pro, in resolution mode, on a 4K HDR. Detroit is absolutely stunning and a truly great game, but it comes second. Spider-man is gorgeous, particularly with photo mode. DICE honestly doesn't get enough credit, even Battlefront 2 was breathtakingly beautiful.

@Dukdodgers Empty claims it's not like I don't agree with you... I just want you to name it...

anonymousfan1974d ago

Funny how the PS4 is theoretically held back by it's aging hardware yet it cranks out some of the best graphics! Some of those devs are wizards I swear :)

piroh1974d ago

Did you play God of war on ps4pro? Astonishing

anonymousfan1974d ago

@piroh I bought the PS4 pro God of War edition and although I only had time to play the first hour and a half on a regular TV set (1080p) I thought it looked incredible!

mandingo1973d ago

performance over graphics

Bronxs151974d ago

i recently played at at some points it's looks so real. especially this one part with alice, she looked so damn real with the lighting and textures.

Yi-Long1974d ago (Edited 1974d ago )

It's been another great year for gaming, right before we are stepping into next gen (possibly in 2019 already, if not, then 2020 for sure...), so the mind boggles at the possibilities/potential coming to us gamers soon.

I liked Spider-Man, but was a bit let-down by the setting: Yeah, it's a gorgeous and faithful rendition of New York, but sadly, New York is quite a visually boring city.

Red Dead 2 is absolutely amazing though, especially when you take into account it's an open world game (a huge one at that).

Loved the demo for Detroit, and once I've cleared a few more games from my backlog, I'm looking forward to picking it up. Same goes for Dragon Ball FighterZ.

A shame there aren't downloadable/'smaller' games on the list though. Divinity original Sin 2, Tetris, Ashen, Gris, etc etc.

Immorals1974d ago

It's a real shame that RDR2 doesn't have proper hdr. Really takes the edge away from it for me

Yi-Long1974d ago (Edited 1974d ago )

Seems like something that could be fixed in time.

That said, I've been playing it on XBO X on my 1080p Panasonic Plasma, and it already looks stunning without HDR.

UltraNova1973d ago

Same here. This game had the potential to be the top of the top HDR showcase on both Movie and Game media. I don't know how R* could mess this up, seriously.

No Way1974d ago

You think New York is a visually boring city? I'd really like to know what you think looks good, visually, then?

Yi-Long1974d ago

Well, New York is a grid-based, very flat city. So there are no curves, no dips and heights, no 'flow', etc etc. Its architecture is mostly boring brown and grey mid-height buildings, with a few special ones in-between.

Compare it to cities like Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei, Kyoto, etc etc, which have mountains, greens, many different building styles from different eras, curving roads, old and new, and there really is no comparison. Even within the USA, there are far more visually interesting cities, like San Francisco, and LA.

From the creators of Sunset Overdrive, which had a colourful diverse city, I would have liked to have seen a bit more creative freedom/liberties when it comes to recreating New York City, but I felt they played it VERY safe with their New York, and their game in general (character-models, gameplay, depth, sounds, etc).

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my time with the game (solid 7/10), but the city has absolutely nothing to offer for me to now go back to it, after I finished the game, while I believe I can keep dropping into Red Dead 2's world any day, months or even years after finishing that game... because it's a gorgeous world full of activities and stuff to keep yourself occupied/entertained with.

starchild1974d ago

I agree about Red Dead Redemption 2. It looks incredible. The amount of detail and interaction in that game is beyond anything I've seen in any other open world game.

Science & Technology blessed the PS4.

akbennyewu1974d ago

And the winner is... A QTE movie!!!!!!

Your shallow narrow minded mentality can't appreciate a great game unless it follows a generic set of guidelines, your loss.

akbennyewu1974d ago

Good one!

Why in the world are you so devastated by my factual comment?

1973d ago
No Way1974d ago

In some ways I agree; no doubt a great looking title, but I don't feel that there is quite as much going on as some of the other titles.

IamTylerDurden11974d ago

People like this are the reason Detroit doesn't get the credit it deserves. Detroit smashes any game in its genre, a truly impressive narrative adventure game.

1973d ago
Kribwalker1973d ago

what is factually incorrect with his statement? it’s a cinematic game filled with QTEs.....

Dragonscale1973d ago

At least it doesn't have 30 minute crappy live action tv episodes after each chapter like a certain xbone travesty lol.

bluefox7551974d ago (Edited 1974d ago )

It's not factual. A qte movie would imply that that it's on rails with the only mechanics being qtes. This is objectively false, and you are wrong.

1973d ago
akbennyewu1973d ago

I respectfully disagree, thank you.

Atticus_finch1973d ago

Qte movie or not still has the best graphics. You mad!?

The Death Of Arkham Has Me Worried About Spider-Man

Saad from eXputer: "After the rise of Rocksteady and its fall with post-Suicide Squad, I'm worried about Marvel's Spider-Man suffering a similar fate."

Hofstaderman38d ago

Why? According to the well publicized Insomniac leaks they have a slew of plans for Spiderman including its sequel.

CrimsonWing6937d ago

The sequel has had rumors that it could be sold piecemeal style or might be GaaS.

https://youtu.be/XCFr3KRB9G...

This is all coming from the leaks you mentioned. The problem is the industry is not doing well no matter how ill-informed people spin it on here when they see “sold 3 mill.” In those Sony leaks it showed the struggle to get ROI and they spend an insane amount of money to develop, which makes 0 sense to me when there’s not much to show for the increased development costs. Case in point would be Suicide Squad vs Arkham Knight.

I believe we’re in the middle of seeing a drastic change in media and distribution. This goes for movies, but more so for games and the industry is scrambling to figure out how to get more money out of consumers rather than stick to the “buy it once” to play it all.

https://www.theverge.com/20...

These are things you need to pay attention to in order to know which direction the wind’s blowing with this sh*t storm. I was almost certain the GaaS initiative was killed when Jim was leaving, but now seeing the success of Helldivers 2… I’m thinking we’re in for a bumpy ride. I just don’t know what that looks like yet, but I don’t think it’s gonna be pretty.

anast37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Insomniac still has a good generation left in them before they get cannibalized by investors. It'll probably happen around the mid PS6 gen, when we see the beginning of the fall.

dmonee37d ago

Huh with this article? If Sony and Insomniac want to abandoned the Spider-Man franchise and make a half baked, live service Spider-Man game, and miss the mark with their fans, then God bless’em!!!!

37d ago
JimmyDM9037d ago

Seems unlikely when they abandoned the GaaS spiderverse game but are still going ahead with single player games like Wolverine and Spider-Man 3.

Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Ultimate Spider-Man use to be my favorite until Insomniac games took over.

Inverno172d ago

I'd still choose Ultimate above all other games, followed by Shattered Dimensions

Abnor_Mal172d ago (Edited 172d ago )

My favorite and still champion Spiderman PS2, followed by Marvels Spiderman2, then Miles Morales, followed by Marvels Spiderman, and finally Ultimate Spiderman.

I need to drag out my PS3 and try Web of Shadows, owned the game for years and years and never played.

Shout out to cultured vultures for NOT making this 40 separate pages.

Spider-Man (2000), Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro, and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions were all so good! I have fond memories playing them.
