"We were told that Crackdown 3's Wrecking Zone can use anything up to and beyond 12 times the power of a base Xbox One X." Microsoft Studios lead engineer Brian Stone discusses Crackdown 3's Wrecking Zone, and the power of Microsoft Azure.
Jeeze, The videos i’ve been seeing of people playing this have been better then what they showed during XO18, here’s hoping they flesh out the MP mode more as people have been saying the destruction is real and it’s awesome, just want more to do
Yeah kudos to the genius of the engineers to persevere through all the development challenges pioneering this tech. I really hope this tech is utilised in the future for all manner of different things. Can't wait to see how this works in real home conditions.
Honestly have you played Red Faction? This is less impressive destruction than that game has. This is an embarrassment, after all the power of the cloud talk this is all they came up with? I honestly half doubt this isn't all local... PC PhysX was doing do FAR more impressive destruction than this years ago. Red Faction in 2011 full destruction toppling towers and other things far more impressive and realistic destruction including knocking towers down into bridges and buildings with full destruction of both objects than what was on show, and 100% local. https://www.youtube.com/wat... Look at this PhysX demo from 2010 it's FAR more impressive than this will be in 2019 and it's 100% local. https://www.youtube.com/wat... Here is a Mafia 2 PhysX Demo 100% local in 2013 Crackdown honestly no bias looks like shit. https://www.youtube.com/wat... Red Faction 2011 full destruction toppling towers and other things far more impressive and realistic destruction than what was on show, and 100% local. https://www.youtube.com/wat... Crackdown honestly looks like crap.
Sorry my post has really bad formatting I was adding links when I ran out of time to edit my post. But the fact is this is not impressive at all, and even if your a hardcore Xbox fan you shouldn't let them try to trick you.
@kelly As I had said it before, no one claim that CD3 is the first game to do environmental destruction. But if people want to play a modern game with environmental destruction, they would definitely go with CD3. And your Mafia 2 demo is just that, a demo. It feature no building collapses whatsoever, just a bunch of car exploding.
https://youtu.be/EWANLy9TjR... Look at that video from 2015. Look at the destruction they promised. Then go back and watch the video in this article. Notice the massive downgrade. They in 2015 were showing full destruction in a city not some arena they even bill the video as online due to the fact they have friends standing on a bridge. Nothing from this 2015 video made it into the game. This is a HUGE downgrade from what was shown in 2015 and before It's unfortunate that you guys are so blinded by fanboyism to let yourselves notice the truth.
@King_Noctis That Mafia 2 stuff is in the game, Mafia 2 has PhysX it's not just a demo, and compared to Red Faction Mafia 2 isn't even than impressive. @Karate_Carrot Those videos she showed are almost 10 years old, Microsoft hyped up power of the cloud you would think they could have produced something that was at least close to what what available 10 years ago. And a lot of the anger shouldn't even be that that it's not as impressive as a 10 year old game it should be the fact that they talked it up for so many years and showed demos that the actual product isn't even close to. This is the most downgraded game I have ever seen.
"This is the most downgraded game I have ever seen." Hyperbole Comparing to Mafia and Red Faction...none of those come close to what Crackdown is doing here let's be real
Many, many times in the 2015 video he mentions using extremely overpowered weapons and spends like a full 10 minutes constantly firing at buildings to bring them down. The new trailer they released is 1 minute long, presumably using standard powered weapons in a couple of quick edit shots. We'll see how the final product ends up, but now multiple media outlets are praising the tech. Pace yourself or you're going to cry yourselves to sleep.
@Kelly Count me in as a blind fanboy because for the life of me I don’t understand the efforts and time you and others are spending trying to make me doubt what I'm seeing. It looks fun as hell. I watched the prior demo, and that did not look like a fun experience. So how can this be a downgrade exactly? This looks like they took that tech and tried to make it into a functional game. That game has explosions, people flying around, big guns, and buildings collapsing. But anyone praising it is blind? It won't win game of the year Im sure, but you have to be a certain kind of "gamer" to call it shit.
Told you Septic ppl will make countless, countless, countless excuses. Its interesting ppl always bring up red faction in 2011. Oh you mean the game that's single player and geared towards a linear experience? The destruction for its time was ok but again its a single player linear game where the destruction can be carefully crafted and made. Its not with 4 other ppl in a open world city. And Mafia 2 really? So you're really gonna send links to to alpha builds and target renders essentially things that are NOT in the full game? I YT the final product of Mafia 2 and I'm sorry to break your heart but phys X DEMO keyword demo didn't even live to half of what the game presents, it turned out to be average open world destruction nothing remotely fascinating.. So no the Mafia 2 game does not have better destruction than CD3, not even close, I mean all you have to do is look at thye videos of the full game. Try linking videos of the final product next time and not just target demos. You say "no bias" but proceed to say it looks like shit" Oh yeah no bias at all....
@karate It is not full destructible according to various sites that played the demo.
Are you for real? It's obvious what your doing your taking the obvious criticism and just taking the first comment to say the opposite of the truth to damage control. Look at the changes from the earlier build, it showed people running around in a huge city blowing up buildings with really high levels of small particles. This new build is restricted to a small arena and the destruction has become basically shooting off parts of buildings and thin flat bridges. With particles that are huge and basically simplistic shapes like squares and triangles. This is BY FAR the biggest downgrade of any game this generation if not ever. And the worst part is they claimed all that previous footage was being played on a base Xbox One which looking at the current footage was OBVIOUSLY a huge lie. Trying to damage control this is insulting, if your excited about the game or whatever fine, but don't let them just lie and don't lie to me and all the other gamers.
"This new build is restricted to a small arena and the destruction has become basically shooting off parts of buildings and thin flat bridges. With particles that are huge and basically simplistic shapes like squares and triangles." Jumping the gun allot lol considering what everyone watched is not even...I don't know where to begin. You made it sound as if you saw the full game in a minute long video. You're gonna pass that much judgment over a a tiny piece of footage. The game releases in 3 months how bout we reserve judgement until then. "This is BY FAR the biggest downgrade of any game this generation if not ever." The game called Watch Dogs ring a bell? and major Hyperbole. "And the worst part is they claimed all that previous footage was being played on a base Xbox One which looking at the current footage was OBVIOUSLY a huge lie." Well considering the X wasn't even a thing in 2014, 15, 16 but it was a year ago. As far as I'm concerned 2+2 still equals 4, do the math.
https://m.twitch.tv/videos/... Theres 40 mins of gameplay, it dont look like it gets any better, the rubble on the floor dissapears and looks about as interactive as a blade of grass. This is not what was promised at all.
@Jakiah66 We get it Jakiah, you don't like the game, but why are you trying to tell everybody else to also not like it? If its to do with what we were shown back in 2015 and what we see today let me tell you, that's because the game wasn't even in alpha at that point, things change, things evolve. Put it like this, imagine they had have put the entire single player city as a map, and its 5v5. You think it may get a little boring after a while because you'd be forever searching for someone to kill. Yes they could have kept the HUGE map and just upped the player count, but they didn't, they made the maps smaller. That doesn't mean the game will somehow not be fun to play, like a lot of people said, what they have seen looks really fun. You don't like what you've seen, and that's fine, but don't try and force your ideals onto others.
Here's a link for +40 mins of Crackdown 3 on twitch - it looks like a lot of fun. https://www.twitch.tv/video... They really should have showed it off more on the X018 livestream.
That is a great video, thanks. They will have Killsigns, Emblems and Metals? Sweet. It shows each person has a rank which means some sort of progression at least. Seeing the destruction like this looks much better.
Uh automatic lock-on in MP?
That’s what crackdown is
Nice find! Looks dope. The scenes where they jump to the top of the map and look down at the explosions and buildings falling is pretty great.
I have no idea why Microsoft didn't show a few full games at XO18 instead of a shit sizzle reel. It looks better than what I was expecting. love the sound effects and neon look of the arena and am very impressed with how smooth it runs. I'm just a bit worried it might get boring quick. I would like to see what improvements they have made in single player, would love to see a boss battle.
This looks sweet
Doesn't look fun, but im blind.
12 times the power of the X1!
And half the power of a video card from 2010
Any proof of that?
Crackdown epic crap of videogames history
That went to NMS when it got released.... So no.
Sorry dude, this isn't impressive but true test will be Xbox live with millions on at the same time
Yall would be wise to learn a lesson from the xbox fanboys and reserve judgment until final build cuz they might flip it on you like spiderman and you will feel even more stupid that these fanatics scored some points on you other fanatics.
This game is a joke. You think it is going to change from what they just showed all of a sudden after 5 years?
“Migatte no Gokui” -Goku
Thats a damn shame man, because I actually enjoy all of the news on this site and I would love to have an actual conversation with people that enjoy the same hobby as me, but every single time I click on an article about xbox I instantly regret it. Maybe I'm just old or something but I remember when we actually enjoyed and celebrated all gaming regardless of system preference. Can anyone point me to a site where I can have an actual discussion with mature gamers???
Man these mf kids, then say don't call me kiddo. They stay tellin on themselves.
Might help if you offered up some point of discussion other than how crappy the site and the community is. Just a thought. Game doesn't appear to offer the level of destruction that was shown in earlier demos, and implied to be present in the game. If they later went back and said they changed what it was to offer, that doesn't mean it wasn't downgraded, it just means they prepared people for the downgrade. Just because they said that the destruction was only going to be in MP, for one mode, doesn't mean they didn't imply heavily that it was going to be a key feature of the game throughout before that, or use that feature as a major selling point for the game, and the X1 itself. Just because they made up some BS to cover their tracks on why they were downgrading, doesn't mean the downgrades didn't happen, and since we've seen people get upset over some puddles or lighting changes, I'd say that it's only fair that we expect them to be upset about large scale, fully destructible environments with high-ish quality visuals and tons of particle and object effects getting changed to what is essentially pre-determined segments of buildings collapsing in chunks which could just as easily be accomplished through scripted destruction, because what was shown, showed absolutely no interaction beyond the initial point of the destruction starting. This is not complex destruction. It isn't interactive destruction. And it isn't layers upon layers of physics causing a cascading butterfly effect of physical interaction between objects. What was shown here could probably be accomplished on a local machine, except maybe for the sheer quantity of destruction that can happen at one time. But...and this is a big but, if it's being done on the cloud, at the very least it shows that the concept is sound, and can work in a practical application. But the but comes in to the fact that the implementation in this game does not really make the game appear all that impressive. I can separate the tech from the game, and be impressed with the cloud tech involved....but the game doesn't really make me think they've achieved some amazing feat of creating a good game. Don't care about it, and it may be some good stupid fun, and others may find it fun, but to me, its only a final proof of concept to the cloud tech itself.
