Why Is The Original 'Red Dead Redemption' Map Hidden But Empty In 'Red Dead 2'?

The rumors are true, Red Dead Redemption 2 does have a huge chunk of the original game's map in it. But you never, ever go there, even though you can. Why?

It'll probably be used more for the online. Or possibly prequel DLC if Rockstar decides to make real DLC again.

Most likely for Red Dead Online since that area is completely empty so imagine that they add content in the area for the Online.

John wasnt very familiar with the area in RDR 1 ... the first he visisted armadillo as far as i remember was in the events of the first game if the gang was in that region b4 it wouldnt be consistant with the first game

Well RDR2 started with them having failed some mission on a boat in Blackwater. And the group is mostly new to the areas in RDR2. They're from the RDR1 region.

Just went there last night and boy is it empty. It was really cool to see how much I remember from a game so long ago, but other than nostalgia, theres not a ton of reason to go there aside from a couple legendary animals and I was able to find one measly cigarette card.

There's also lot of empty space on the RDR2 Map as if Rockstar intends to add single player DLC some time down the road. At the bottom of the Map the lines seem to fade into more unseen land rather then define an end to the Map.

You can get into Mexico, there’s YouTube videos showing this. Also the multiplayer starting area is in el paradiso prison.

Could be DLC. Like with GTA5 the opening 15 minutes of the game is set outside of LA and once that is over and done with you don't visit their again until later on and even then only for a few minutes.
