Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Might Launch In April 2019, PS5 and Xbox Scarlett Versions Likely – Pachter

Rockstar’s first true game for this generation has finally launched. Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now, and it looks like it was worth the wait, with reviews hailing it as one of the best games ever made. Which of course, is a given with Rockstar titles. The question, however, is- with this generation likely entering its final years now, can we expect Red Dead Redemption 2 to make the jump to the next generation consoles?

I remember folks said the same to me in 2013 when I said xb1 and ps4 should have been 4k machines. I was told we wouldn't see 4k gaming until 2020. 8K is already here. The displays are being produced and games the PC is already there at that resolution.

No, what we have now which is not a constant on either platform.
Full adaption on 6/8 k will not happen next gen, the underworkings are just not there.

But again. When new consoles launch. There will be improved graphics, etc etc. and It could be a similar situation. higher image quality for lower fps. etc.

What's inevitable is ps5 and the next Xbox will most likely be b/c out of the box. I think it would be a waste of time and money for R* to bother with a next Gen version. I also don't think R* will get away with trying to double dip another game.

most likely for pc and ps5 but unlikely for Scarlett, seeing as how phil already said that he's aiming to have games cross all generations which includes past the xb1- X.... we may see an "enhanced" for scarlet update but i don't expect an entirely seperate game for it like grand theft auto was.

I honestly doubt that R* would lose such money while upseting PS5 owners by just release a free enhanced patch for the Scarlett (which probably will be more powerful than the PS5) while charging PS5 owners a full priced RDR2.

PS5 according to rumors will be very powerful. So I am guessing Scarlet will be the same. If Scarlet happens around 2022 only then it can be powerful since the PS5 is expected around 2020...

I expect PS5 and Scarlett to release with about the same level of power,just like PS4 and Xbox One(in that case PS4 had a lil bit more power) but neither console will be much more powerful than the other...thoughout history Microsoft has usually had the more powerful console but only because it has often came out sometime later..Xbox came out a while after PS2 so naturally it was more powerful..technically PS3 was more powerful than the 360 but it's shitty architecture is what fucked it up,it was hard to develop for so 360 always had the best version of games..PS4 Pro came out a year before Xbox One X.I definitely cant speak for everyone but I know I wouldve been disappointed had the One X not been more powerful than the Pro..definitely not saying anything bad about the Pro,I love mine but after waiting an extra year for the Xbox mid gen upgrade it would've been upsetting if it didnt out do the Pro in performance

i'm not talking about which one will be more powerful. I'm talking about what phil's gameplan is from here on out, which is different from sony's gameplan....sure they released a seperate grand theft auto for the xb-1 but this was before phil made the proclamation of all consoles being backwards compatible....

the way rockstar can work around this is by releasing dlc that take full advantage of the Scarlett's capabilities....if sony decides to make the ps5 backwards compatible then I'm sure the same would apply....besides, this is michael Prachter making these predictions which anything he says should always be taken with a grain of salt.

And what if devs refuse to upgrade their games for free? Seems like a lack of foresight to lock devs out of additional income for upgrading their games? Bc is just bc a remaster or a remake of high quality should be compensated.

Would you rather play the 360 version of GTA V or the xbox one version?

Devs are already upgrading their titles and allowing for backwards compatibility on Xbox One. Red Dead Redemption is enhanced on Xbox One from the 360 version and the upgrade has no cost affixed for previous owners, disc or digital.

Lock out additional income? Red Dead Redemption on top of other titles already show that enhancing titles can equate to new sales and more revenue.

Again a bc upscale is far different from a remaster or remake. RDR does look good through x bc, but at the end of the day it's just a small increase compared to say The last of Us versus the last of us remastered.

I'm asking still: would you rather have an option to play a fully remastered game or just a res boost? Gta 360 or xboxone skyrim 360 or skyrim xboxone?

Devs cant put in the work if they dont have a financial incentive to keep boosting old games.

Microsoft themelves are the ones that boost bc xbox games not the original devs.

I game on consoles so this doesnt much matter to me..with that being said,this is awesome for the PC gamers.what got me excited is the possible VR support..Im well aware PS4/PSVR isnt gonna be anywhere near powerful enough for RDR2 but if it comes to Oculus Rift and HTC Vive the chances are pretty good it may be available in the future on PS5/PSVR2...if not I'm gonna have to go ahead and pull the trigger and make about a $2,000-$2,500 upgrade to my gaming life so I can build a good PC and get a HTC Vive
