Not by a long shot. Silent Hill 2 and REmake are the best horror games of all time. Its not even close.

I liked Silent Hill 3 too and F.3.A.R. If P.T. was a full game then I would think it would top it all. But since it isn't (f**k you Konami) then all we have is thoughts of what Silent Hills would have been like. Parasite Eve was great too

The original REmake on GC still looks good with an upscaled resolution. That game was incredible when it came out.

Highly debatable. Don't get me wrong, it certainly had it's creep factor, but the greatest horror "game" of all time? Hardly.

I thought it was really good, but way too short to be up there as one of the best horror games. It was a demo, so I didn't expect it to be longer, just sayin'.

Otherwise, the scariest game I ever played was a Japanese adventure game on the PS1/Saturn. It didn't use shock horror, and didn't have a script, which was good because I don't know Japanese. But the atmosphere, and things you experienced were tense and genuinely scary.

For the life of me though, I can not remember the name, as it was one of those very Japanese names, but have always kept a lookout for the cover when buying up games for my collection. I've yet to come by it again though.:*(

PT was good but still hyped up way too much. If this had been an indie game that was being sold for £20 it wouldn't have been mentioned a month after release. The fact it was a free demo that came out of the blue and it had a really difficult to decipher ending, and norman reedus at the heights of the walking dead craze it created a lot of attention in the gaming media.

It could have been missing all of those things you mentioned as long as Kojima still made it. People would still call it the greatest of all time.

Anything with Kojima on it will always be considered the best of whatever it is doing by fans. This and Death Stranding prove that. PT was a Trailer and no one even knew if the final game would have been anything like it. Yet here we are in this article.

Death Stranding has very little known about it with almost no real gameplay reveals and people are already acting like it's the second coming of video game Jesus.

It was a teaser demo. For Silent Hills. That's why it got hype. It wasn't hyped up because it was a full game, and for as short as it was, it was pretty creepy.

Kojima's involvement added hype because he was working on a Silent Hill game, something he has always wanted to do, and people thinking he'd make a really good one because he has a record for making good, and weird games.

Was it great? Sure. Was it scary? Yes. Was it as intense as the first time the villagers started breaking into my hotel room and chased me through the hotel, forcing me to make a crazy jump to safety? Nope. Was it as unsettling as nearly my entire Amnesia experience? Nope. Was it as horrifying as my Fatal Frame Experiences? Not at all. What folks lack in 2018 is a concept of history. P.T. was barely a game, but it was a very memorable experience. Best horror game? Perhaps to somebody who has missed the last couple of decades of video games and has a seriously limited history with actual horror games.

Fatal Frame I couldn't play when I first tried. I always hated that kind of creepy horror style.

Later, I got into the series though, and really liked it. I think its a good contender for best horror game, and I'll agree that it was a better horror "game" or experience...whichever one prefers to use....than PT.

Ever play any of the Fatal Frame games? They make most of the Silent Hill games feel like a vacation at Puppy Land lol. Some people don't like the traditional Japanese settings, but those games are unsettling as all hell.
