Review: Nintendo Switch – A year and a half of Switching on

Blast Away the Game Review Writes: "It’s hard to think that the Nintendo Switch is already quickly approaching its second year. Only having released in March of 2017, Nintendo sought to change the way we look at, how we play, and where we enjoy our games. They got rid of that single-handed approach the Wii U had begun, a journey that slowly began to integrate mobility into games.

Once again, Nintendo has steadily revealed that they have listened to their fans, releasing high-demand third-party games on their hardware and even allowing for benefits to be earned by those that join their Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. Now that we have major features, it’s time for a proper review of the Nintendo Switch. So let’s snap our fingers and get this show on the road."

I'm guessing the score would have probably been an 8.5 if it had an official internet browser and Netflix.

The score wouldn't have gone up over those features. The score would have gone up based upon the ability for features that were sensible such as native party and or game chat features (the current system is a mess), cheaper re-released ports of previously released Wii U exclusives and even a better outline of their warranty services and ability to extend (my Switch hasn't had any issues outside of the loose Joy-Con's due to natural wear and tear).

Fair enough. Though for some of those Wii U ports I'm fine with them being charged full price since some didn't sell that well. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze should have been $40, not 60.

Agreed. Completely agree. I was fine Mario Kart 8 Deluxe due to all of the additional content being included. It made sense, but what dumbfounded me was games like Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta, both of which have released multiple times. I'd have been okay with those at $39.99 or even $49.99. But $59.99? Nah. I wasn't okay with that.

Review - Star Overdrive (Switch) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Oliver Shellding: "That, perhaps, is the greatest takeaway from the entire ordeal: the love. However much you may roll your eyes at the classic trope of a boy coming to the rescue of a girl, there’s such genuine emotion in the notes that Nous has left for Bios. There’s some brilliant voice acting done by Nous, which must fill the silence that Bios creates as he refrains from making a single noise throughout the journey. But she longs for him, she holds his heart dear, and his determination and steadfast movement through hostile, unknown dangers to find her again speak volumes without a word. It’s not a perfect title, but it’s wonderfully memorable, and I highly encourage anyone and everyone to take a chance on Star Overdrive. The beauty is simple, in the end: Bios and Nous are one, and that drives their entire future to the stars and beyond."
