Author Writes: SoulCalibur has been a defining series in the fighting genre, with many critically acclaimed titles. We've ranked the series to see which is the best.
Soul Calibur IV launched worldwide 15 years ago, bringing with it the best performance of the series to date.
Hell no. It was the start of the downfall (SCV) of the series. Huge downstep from the giant SCIII
Used to love this series, probably my favorite 3D fighter, perhaps together with the now also dead Dead or Alive (2-3-4), but as with so many games in the fighting genre, their short-term greed (season passes) has made me lose all interest, sadly …
Loved Number 2 and 3( loved all the solo modes like chronicle of the sword ) so was super hyped when 4 came out but the lack of single player content was disappointing. Still love soul calibur to this day though
Now that the Japanese console versions of Soulcalibur II are 20 years old, it's worth looking back at why the game remains so iconic.
Of the three console versions, GCN was my favorite due to Link. His character felt more accurate to the others. Hehachi and Spawn were okay but... felt out of place.
Then again, so did Yoda and Vader in SC4.
Thousands of matches, countless nights, and beautiful memories. Soulcalibur is one the greatest games there is, but its best feat is that it gathered friends for some of the best times of their lives. I miss those days and i miss those friends.
Thought 3 was better personally, shame it's stuck on PS2 and didn't get any love since.
SC2 is still my favorite and of the guest characters... Link fit the style of the game the best. I will say though that Vader and Yoda made a couple of really good special appearances. Like the spartan 458 in DoA4. Totally does not fit with the program but somehow it just works.
