mgs3's gameplay aged the worse. Not being able to crouch walk after playing the games that came after is a killer. mgs2's gameplay aged better,but the aiming is tough . Peace walker is the better of the three remasters .

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree (and also inform you that you're crazy). Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (which MGS3 HD is based on) has aged way better than MGS2. MGS2 doesn't have a rotatable camera and comes with less gameplay options, less verticality and smaller environments. 3 is also just generally a better game. In Peace Walker, you can't move while lying down (no crawling). PW is a good handheld game but MGS2 and MGS3 come with better story, bosses, stealth, action, level variety, more memorable moments, etc.

The best moments in PW's story are the moments it recycles from MGS3. What does that say? Let's also not forget that PW is more repetitive, its enemies are bullet sponges and its lethal weapons don't feel particularly good as a result. The boss fights were also the worst in the series before 5.

What are you talking about? The game plays fine. Or do you mean the offset thumbsticks ruins the experience for you because you are used to the DS controller?

@Darth no, when it came to 360 the controller lacked pressure sensitive buttons so you have to use your fingers in odd positions to do things that were easy on PS. I forgot buttons can be remapped! Thanks guys!!!

It's kind of disgraceful that you can play these MGS games on XB1 but not PS4. Jesus Christ, Sony. PS3 backwards compatibility better come with PS5. No excuses. At that stage, the power required to emulate the CELL will no longer be an excuse.

Modders have been trying to get PS3 games to play on PC for like 10 years now. Only recently have one or 2 been playable when using a high end PC.

I don't understand this mentality at all, other than the framerate being terrible in 720p on the OG Xbox(MGS2) it was fine.

Why can't you just realize this is just a cool thing? Wouldn't it be nice if the PS4 and Xbox got a remaster of MGS4? I bet it would look pretty good at 4k on a Pro or One X. Regardless of platform, more options to play and enjoy MGS is always a good thing.

Oh and even MGS1 was on the PC, so you know...get over it?

metal gear 2 made me dislike metal gear for a long time with all the large narrative cutscenes. "less talk, more play" for me...not to mention that after all that, it ended up being nothing more than an environmental PSA sort of speak 😒... since then i never picked up another metal gear...until 5 a few months ago which has a lot of wash, rinse, repeat missions...(am i ever getting out of Afghanistan?)....

regardless, it's still fun to play at times but I find myself playing other games more these days.... i may try metal gear 3 down the road cause i heard it was a better game than 2.

MGS3 is the best MGS game. Just make sure that you play the subsistance version.

metal gear solid 1 had more action than metal gear 2. i don't recall any long cutscenes in that...and by long i mean over 2 minutes....like i said, if you want me to experience a well told story then do it with game execution in short spurts as i play the game. taking me out of the game for more than 2 minutes and have me play half a mission to give me another 2-5 minute cutscene is just going to bore me.

Not really, MGS 1 had long codec calls and cut scenes.

The power of the PS2/PS3 just allowed for more of it, same with 3 and as everyone knows 4.

MGS1 has over 3 hours while MGS2 and 3 are both between 5-5 1/2 hours. And 4 with almost almost 8 1/2.

There is a Subsistance version for as MGS3 as well. The main difference between both is the camera. In the original you don't control the camera. It's fixed in isometric view. In MGS3 subsistance you control the camera like you do in any modern game.

i don't mind isometric views, it never bothered me with metal gear 1...if the difference is just camera controls then it's not that big of an incentive for me to choose 1 over the other.

I wish they used the uncensored PS2 version. I liked how when enemies got shot or asploted, there was red on their models. Also lots more blood when Vamp sliced a throat

This is awesome, two truly amazing games. When I see games like this added to the BC library it does make me long for an equivalent service from Sony.

I have a PS3 sat under the tv and I have all the remastered MGS games but it's not plugged in as all 4 HDMI sockets are in use. It would great to just play them on my PS4.
