Insane Robots Review
Released on the 13th of July 2018, Insane Robots was made by Playniac. This is their first outing for console with their previous games being made for iPad and PC.
Insane Robots is a card battle game with a twist… Game play starts off with you finding out that you’re a robot that needs to wander around multiple arenas; Made up of ice, sand, snow and jungle. The aim being to find other robots to destroy. There are 8 different tournaments to unlock which progressively get harder, with more enemies to defeat.
Insane Robots has gone for an Advance Wars feel of turn based moves round the board, in search of opponents to beat, with a bonus of winning money at the end of the battle if you are victorious. You can then use that money for upgrades found in the shops all over the map or to repair any damage you have sustained during battle!
Drawing 4 cards into your hand when the battle begins, these can be made up of ‘attack’, ‘defend’, ‘boost’, ‘lock’, ‘hack’, ‘glitch’ or ‘swap‘. Your cards are replenished as the round goes on and If you are dealt a special pink card , It can really turn a battle on its head! Battles consist of taking turns while trying to complete a ‘circuit’ for attacking or defending. Both players start on 1 energy with basic moves like placing a card exhausting you, each turn you gain one energy to help build up for those more impressive moves. When you place a card on the field, it can power you up in attack or increase your defence, with a maximum of ten points in either skill being achievable at once.
