Mad Max launched almost 3 years ago so it was surprising to see a new update pop out for the game today on the PS4.
Mad Max update 1.05 Patch Notes for PS4 and XBox One Added fixes for stuttering/lag issues. Mad Max version 1.05 also added various bug fixes. Added performance and stability improvements. Added fixes for crashing issues with Mad Max 1.05. Mad Max update 1.05 for PS4 is now available for download.
That's 13gb of bug fixes?
I started the game on my Platinum save and drove around. No visual changes that I could see, so yes I guess they had to overhaul a large chunk of code to get rid of those nasty bugs. I know my game crashed randomly from time to time so I'm glad if they fixed that because half-through the game my save was corrupted. Thank God I had a PS Plus cloud save back-up !! Edit: When I now check my game and the patch-notes on my Pro it says: Version 1.05 Online Services Update whatever that means ?!
If there are no significant or obvious changes or visual enhancements, the only thing I can think of is that they are overwriting and streamlining some of the base code instead of just adding to it. Sometimes that's more efficient than just tacking on extra code.
13GB must contain data not just code. Code is small in comparison. So, maybe they changed the way it loads or compresses/decompresses/stream s assets? I am impressed they still work on this game. There is hope for a Pro update?
There will be absolutely no bugs. The game is 100 percent perfect lol
Still, a little weird for a 4 year old game. Maybe Bethesda knew people would be looking at that game to see how Rage 2 might turn out and payed for some bug fixes?
only recently hit psn monthly games though hasnt it.3 month back?
I'm going to assume a lot of that is audio file fixes that might have caused bugs in the game? Otherwise, just code fixes wouldn't run you much more than 1GB of an update.
Or DLC baked in waiting for an unlock key?
One of the best movie inspired games i played in years. There is a lot of room for improvement aswell as many options to make the sequel worth of GOTY. Imagine multiplayer survival game where you compete against other players in custom made vehicles in either: races to the death; or in free free desert mode (with procedurally generated maps); taking down convoys together or just exploring long forgotten artifacts of lost civilization.
"or in free free desert mode (with procedurally generated maps); taking down convoys together or just exploring long forgotten artifacts of lost civilization." If I would change only one word in that sentence; "convoys" to machines, you would effectively be describing HZD, that already exists, so wish granted, get it if you haven't already.
Except Horizon isn't multiplayer and doesn't have death cars.
Jinger, Relax dude..
Not procedurally generated maps either :)
@above Yet HZD is in part procedurally generated...
I agree , for me one the best movie to video game i ever played . Can not wait to see what they are doing with RAGE 2. Just wanted to add that RAGE 2011 had the best vehicular competitive multiplayer combat i ever played . Really excited about AVALANCHE and ID Software working together .
So everyone agrees here. But essentially is Fallout 76. Hypocrisy.
I was the second gunman at the grassy knoll.....
Was just thinking about this game the other night; one of the best open world experiences I've played (and finished!) in the last few years. I keep meaning to back and check out the 'endless' mode i heard about: you basically drive off the map and explore a procedurally generated expanse where you forage for supplies and take on other raiders - a true Mad Max experience.
What?! That sounds awesome! Like a hidden survival game?
Okay, i remember the devs talking about this. Its not in the game. When you go to the edge of the map its just a storm that damages you. That quote stuck with me too because it sounds awesome.
Ah right; did you try it when you finished the campaign? I'm gonna boot it up tonight and check again (would love it to be true, but could just be an urban legend propagated by the fan community).
If it adds ps4 pro support I'll boot it up. Still in my hard drive.
Damn. Was hoping for Pro support.
a performance patch? I don't remember it being bad at all on my PS4
When I googled it earlier to find patch notes, it was mentioned the last update caused issues and it seems this patch addresses those issues. For some reason years later.
Kinda sucks. I mean good that bugs are still getting ironed out. But I would ve like a pro patch to enhance fps or 4k.
I would say this game is so underrated. I would easily given it a 9 out of 10. So fun!
This was one of the games where i wish there was DLC. The last part of the game was heartbreaking
most probably PRO patch.
It's not, unfortunately.
What I still want from an update to this game is the ability to respawn the convoys and enemies as I just want to destroy all the convoys again without starting a new game. I've platinumed the game yet still won't to keep destroying those convoys. It's so much fun
People still play this?
Absolutely one of the most underrated games of this gen! It was a dream come true for me as Mad Max finally gets a good game.
There were some major bugs that could make platinum harder, but nothing that would require a 13 GB patch There's also a secret area, far from the game world, maybe they added something there? It's worth a check
Surprise multiplayer mode incoming, possibly Battle Royale. Watch for the announcement soon and then report back here to marvel at how right I was.
The Lord Humongous is very suspicious of this patch. 13 gigs is alot for just some bug fixes. It must be for visual enhancements!
According to Zeke68 “Version 1.05 Online Services Update” I don’t like the sound of that. Probably embedded ads for rage 2. This is why we buy physical people!
