The success of Octopath is another reminder that quality single player games will sell well.
"Today, Square Enix® announced that "OCTOPATH TRAVELER" is now available to purchase for the PlayStation®5 (PS5®) and PlayStation®4 (PS4®) consoles and "OCTOPATH TRAVLER II" is now available for the first time on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, meaning that the award-winning RPG series is now available to play across all current console platforms and PC (Windows PC and STEAM®)." - Square Enix.
Publisher Square Enix and developer ACQUIRE have released Octopath Traveler for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 for $59.99. A bundle containing both games.
Would anyone recommed this game to someone who has 0 patience for lengthy dialogues and slow combat?
I hope we get a North American PS5 physical, but unfortunately I don't think it's likely
Octopath traveler is a beautiful journey and game, glad that more people can play it now.
The Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has rated the original Octopath Traveler for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
Nintendo be buying 6 year exclusivity windows up in here. Glad this game is FINALLY coming to Playstation
I hope this is true and not just some error because I am really excited after reading this one.
Omg please let this be true! I literally was waiting for this before OT2 came out for ps4/5. I did not want to start it before I played 1. I know they are two different stories btw, but I just wanted the first platinum before I begin 2. Let this be real!
0cctoparh Traveler is a reminder that a well timed rekease on a dry spell will guarantee sales coz there is nothing else to play on Switch.
I don't get how MS don't get what makes a console sell well.
It's like they forgot why the 360 had such a great start.
Price and great games will ALWAYS get get gamers, some consoles have at least one of these. For example the Wii, it only had a handful of great games. But was priced amazingly well.
The WiiU suffered the same lack of quantity of quality titles and had a ridiculous price.
The Switch, whilst not priced for the mass market like the Wii, has hit the sweet spot on price and has already built a library of quality games.
Sony learned the lesson in the Ps3 life cycle. It's funny how after the price drop, and games like Uncharted 2 started dropping that sales massively improved.
Thankfully they stuck with the great price at launch, and people can scoff at the launch exclusives, but that's a Sony thing, start of slow, the occasional gem, then diamond after diamond drop.
Fingers crossed they keep it going for PS5.
Then you have MS, who at the start of 360, had a great price, and quality exclusives. Yet took their foot off the gas and have never recovered.
They have the weakest line up of exclusives of all 3, and the X1X whilst has fantastic specs, has a price that rules out a lot of people.
MS should of taken a gigantic hit and launched the X1X lower than the Pro and the X1s lower than a PS4.
They didn't and are going to pay the price long term.
Congrats to Nintendo. Really heading good things about Octopath. Haven't seen a trailer for it too. So it will definitely be a purchase when I get a switch.
Let's be honest, if this had came out on ps4 or Xbox the release wouldn't have registered anywhere near as much due to the variety and quality of software on those consoles. Due to the switch really struggling for software it was always going to find a bigger audience there. People just want something to play. It makes sense.
