We Need A True Modern Power Rangers Game

With all of its retained and regained popularity, why haven’t we seen a modern triple A style game based on the franchise yet? The 25th anniversary provides a great opportunity for an announcement of one, and developers have plenty of options to choose from, but first to understand the possible future of Power Rangers games, we have to take a look into the past.

Gah..wait...what...THANK YOU!

I mean seriously, the game writes itself. You have more than enough material to draw from.

I picture a beat 'em up / rpg type game where you can power up and upgrade your Ranger. Add different weapons and moves also.

Unlock different Rangers from the many series to use in gameplay.

Have levels where you play as Words fighting huge beasts.

It's right there for the taken...are you going to take it....are you man enough to take it?

Then, either after winning the lottery or - somehow - getting some Star Citizen level funding on Kickstarter along with SABAN's blessing, you better get to making it. Cause given current gaming trends you're not going to get anything like that on a console.

I've been thinking the same thing for a while now.. Got a few ideas for an origins story, a civil war story on zordons home planet.

But there's plenty more you could do with it.
Imagine open world rpg, teleporting is fast travel, side missions at Ernies, different story arc from the morphing series, morph at anytime, putty patrol attacks whenever, call zords, giant monsters destroying the city with debris falling everywhere. Side missions could include martial arts tournaments, science fairs. Most importantly, bulk and skull.
Would need to be mighty morphing series but a bit darker. Not too dark but appeal more to adults than children.

I still preferred the original Power Rangers game over this one I didn't mind this one but flipping between foreground and background got annoying. The Power Rangers on Genesis the first one being a fighting game was a pain in the ass hard as hell. I also like the Power Rangers fighting game because of the Shogun Megazord still one of my favorite Megazords and Lord Zed.

Don't forget goldar he was cool too

NotoriousWhiz935d ago

I liked both the genesis original and the snes original. I still replay the SNES one on rare occasions. The genesis fighting game was pretty hard, but still good fun.

Not as good as the first Power Rangers SNES game but I really dig the music in the movie game. Ivan Ooze's boss ost is something else.I can easily remember the different tracks in the movie game. I struggle to do that with the original outside of the MMPR theme. The Game Gear entry for the original show is still my favorite though. I use to plug my GG into the wall and play that game for hours.

I loved this when I was a kid.

Original SNES Power Rangers game was surprisingly really good and a ton of fun. Never got around to The Movie game. I think I was hitting the age where I thought I was “too cool” to be associated with anything Power Rangers around the time The Movie Game was released. Though I’m sure I still played the original in secret from time to time when no one was looking. Lol

On a side note I was team SNES those days and was highly jealous that the Genesis version had the Green Ranger and the SNES version did not.

Used to play this on the zsnes emulator with my friend online back in the early 2000's, fun game.

Not a fan of the rangers design. But I would play the heck out of a PR AAA game.

BlackIceJoe994d ago

I never thought of Power Rangers for an open world game, but now I want to see a RPG set in this universe.

There definitely is potential with this world for great stories.

I really haven't followed the Power Rangers universe since the 90s, so I don't know all of their modern improvements, but if a game was to come out, I definitely would give it a try.

So hopefully in the future a Power Rangers game will come out.

WHAT THE FUK WHYYYYYYYYYYYY CANCEL THUIS AMAZING THING?!!?!?!??!!??!?!? NUUUUUUU

We need a NeatherRealm Power Ranger's game.

porkChop993d ago

I was more into VR Troopers, but I might still play a big AAA Power Rangers game.

TheHan993d ago

Not gonna lie, it’d be interesting for sure. I’m a PR fan from way back. Though I’m a busy adult and don’t follow PR like that, A PR with based on this cool concept could be very popular.

Power rangers is just ripe for perfect fighting game.
Let's hope now that Hasbro owns them. They can do the brand some justice.

thejigisup1927d ago

Can't enter store without a password. So the pre-order isn't up yet.

IRetrouk1927d ago

Please be good. That's all I ask.

Ninver1927d ago (Edited 1927d ago )

Unfortunately in this day and age that's asking too much. Damn! How did gaming fall this far,?

Gone are the days when gems like Power Rangers were profound gaming experiences enjoyed by the masses with a group of friends heavily engrossed in it's simplistic yet overwhelming beauty.

OH THE NOSTALGIA!!

Rangerman12081927d ago

Hopefully it would be better than that beat em up.

I'm also hopeful that the combat won't be as luck based as Legacy Wars, since that game mostly focuses on talents, character leveling, certain powerful and unpredictable attacks (with some characters actually having a super while others don't), and getting the best skills early.
