Salt and Sanctuary is absolutely a blast for anyone familiar with souls like elements. It does side scrolling better than even From Software might.
Highly recommended on Switch on the go if you have it.

Dkcolley2497d ago

I have it on ps4 but will be grabbing on switch

Tankbusta402498d ago

Dead cells.... Cuz IGN Plagiarizes!!!! WOO

NecrumOddBoy2497d ago

Chasm
Hollow Knight
Death's Gambit

Dkcolley2497d ago

Deaths gambit isnt out yet is it? Not seen chasm but youv'e got my on hollow Knight its a fantastic game

NecrumOddBoy2497d ago

No I think they're still a little bit until death's Gambit comes out. I think Hollow Knight is definitely the best of all of them and it's a shock that dead cells has received higher scores from any sites. I don't know what's up with this Rogue metroidvania procedurally-generated whatever style but it seems to be the current flavor of the month

Dkcolley2497d ago

Well when i reviewed hollow knight i gave it 9/10 and im reviewing dead cells as we speak so lets see what i give it

Soulsborne Games Ranked From Worst to Best

The Games Cabin Writes "First of all, this ranking is my opinion, so it is bound to be different from a lot of people. The “Soulsborne” series is highlighted for its amazing world-building and savagely hard combat that we have come to love. Ranking the series wasn’t easy, especially with the FromSoftware’s latest release, Elden Ring. I will also be including DLCs for the games as Fromsoft always produce masterclasses for the DLCs."

In the minority I’m sure but code vein is my favorite of the souls games.

lodossrage1150d ago

I think they're only counting the ones from Fromsoftware

Which sucks because that leaves out Code Vein, Nioh 1, Nioh 2, The surge 1, the surge 2, and mortal shell.

The genre needs a better name than soulsbourne. The same way games like Castlevania SOTN and metroid need a better name than Metroidvania for their genre.

gamer78041150d ago

Yah they are I was surprised why it was not included at first but it’s a limited list

ChiefofLoliPolice1150d ago

Don't forget Jedi Fallen Order.

DivineHand1251149d ago

I believe the genre is roguelike but soulsborne are the games fromsoftware makes.

lucian2291149d ago

Def the minority. While the character creation was cool, the game was awful, especially the cathedral level, dear lord.

BlaqMagiq11150d ago

Here's how I rank them from best to worst:

1. Bloodborne
2. Elden Ring
3. Sekiro
4. Dark Souls 3
5. Demon's Souls
6. Dark Souls
7. Dark Souls 2

CaptainHenry9161150d ago (Edited 1150d ago )

I only agree with Bloodborne number 1 and Elden Ring number 2

I_am_Batman1149d ago (Edited 1149d ago )

My order is almost the same, except that I'd switch Elden Ring and Sekiro. In it's best moments, Elden Ring is definitely up there, but it feels more inconsistent in it's quality some of the other games. To be fair, Bloodborne's Chalice Dungeons suffered from a very similar issue of repetitiveness, but they were easier to ignore, because they weren't as tightly woven into the game as Elden Ring's catacombs.

In my opinion the two main issues that hold Elden Ring back are the lack of boss variety (compared to the size of the game) and some unfinished NPC quests. I'm sure future DLC can improve on those aspects.

Sephiroushin1149d ago

The thing is that the world is massive and they realized it too late. Bloodborne, sekiro and elden, i agree with dark souls 2 being the worst as well..

CaptainHenry9161149d ago

I feel like Demon Souls should be up a little more

Sciurus_vulgaris1150d ago

I haven’t gotten around to playing Elden Ring yet. However, I have beaten Demon Souls Remaster, Darks 1-3 and Bloodborne. I didn’t enjoy Sekiro enough to finish it, so it is my least favourite Soulsborne game. Conversely, Bloodborne is favourite Soulsborne game.

Flawlessmic1150d ago

Id put elding ring above DS3 but otherwise pretty fair list.

robtion1149d ago

Yep, Bloodborne is number 1. The order of the rest is debatable.

Deathdeliverer1150d ago

I think Sekiro was cool, but it wasn’t good enough to keep me to the end. Never finished it. All the others I have (except Elden Ring- Just haven’t had the desire to play it in the last 3 weeks. Left off in Volcano manor.)

Bloodborne is definitely the best game. Dark Souls is very good as is demons souls. Elden ring is better than demons souls, but not as atmospheric. I enjoyed Dark Souls 2 as well. I can’t fairly judge dark souls 3 cause I was souled out by then. Any list with Bloodborne as #1 and Sekiro closer to the middle or bottom has my support. Elden ring can fall anywhere but #1 and I’m fine with that too.

lucian2291149d ago

Sekiro was fun but i don't consider it a souls game. It has literally one weapon and is very linear, lore isn't interesting, but combat is fun aside from lack of variety. Never had a desire to play it a second time, nor do I crave a sequel.

Nioh II Exhibits The Consequences of Irrationality & That Betterment is Painful

Nioh II and the Soulsborne genre exhibit in a manner more clearly than real life the deleterious consequences of emotively disregarding logic, the splendor of achieved potential & that the cost of self-improvement is the shedding of blood.

Haven't been following this that much but I'm def interested. I never played the original but it seems fun. If this would be a bloodborne clone I would shamefully be ok with it.
Edit: But please not it not be.

Lilrizky2393d ago

I've always said this. MediEvil should be rebooted as a lite-souls game.
