I hope the change works for them in the end. Changing your entire vision mid way can sometimes be bad.

ShottyatLaw2533d ago

Doesn't sound like they changed their entire vision.

They were a small team that received a lot of feedback (positive and negative). That feedback and early access allowed them to grow in size and build even more story components then they had planned when they were small. Sounds like they've made thoughtful changes to the survival aspects while keeping its narrative significance, too.

Overall, this is sounding like an example of Early Access done right.

Lol I’m guessing the game changed a lot because the game wasn’t fun. Look at Fortnite at their rush to copy PUBG.

Kribwalker2533d ago

I bought it early access just for the deal on it. Played it a little but didn’t want to spoil the game when it releases. Excited to see it finished, had a very bioshock vibe to it

Sorry to break it to you Skull, Fortnite is great success :(

From the initial showing until the one shown at E3 this year my interest went from "not really" to "wow, I think I'll look into this when it comes out". I think the changes they made helped out a lot.

Can't wait to buy this game

They didn't change their vision. The early access was always for the testing of their procedural survival mechanic as they stated many times. The story was always something they were working on and polishing last as they had to get the base mechanics down first.. I don't know where this narrative came from that they changed their "vision", what they have done is received more money and therefore more people which has allowed them to do a bigger game than first intended much like the Cuphead creators.

Sounds like they weren’t confident in their vision

thatguyhayat2533d ago

Hmm reading this you can tell they didnt have faith in their own game but they did take the feedback. Hope all goes well for them

Fist4achin2533d ago

I hope im still happy after all these changes...

XbladeTeddy2533d ago

I'm sure there will be a happy few. Yeah, I did just do that!

Vasto2533d ago (Edited 2533d ago )

Sounds like the game has improved a lot. Adding more focus on story is a great move. This is why Early Access is so awesome. It gives devs real time feedback from players during the development process. Now they just need to announce that it will be on Game Pass Day 1.

Kinda reminds me of miasmata also with how the navigation works. Not to miasmata's extent but definitely in the same vein
