Deep Silver's Huw Beynon said that the Xbox One X allows the developers of Metro Exodus to do things that may not be possible elsewhere on other hardware. He's also highly confident that the game will look better on the Xbox One X.
I could have sworn the title said not possible on Hardware meaning consoles. I’m not sure why PC gets brought up in console articles. We all know PC is best when you have the funds to make it the best. This article is about CONSOLES and the X is the best hardware available. I’m still waiting on someone to build a PC that can do what the X does at 500....
At non-inflated graphic card and memory prices, it's very doable, even with new parts. Graphic card prices are starting to level out again, but memory still isn't there. If you're willing to buy used, you can build a system that will easily outperform the X, even with inflated graphic card prices. There are dozens of videos demonstrating this on youtube.
PC gets brought up because X fanboys keep forgetting that, regardless of how "powerful" their paperweight is, it will always be outclassed. @NewUser101: It isn't the best console, it's the most powerful. One would have a very strong argument stating it's the second-worst console on the market right now after the S because of its complete lack of exclusive games.
Hardware in the gaming context is any device that can run games. The title is incorrect. While the Xbox One X is the most powerful console it can't do things that aren't possible on a good gaming PC.
Because those pc guys can't take not being in on it all that they have to throw it in there no matter what because they don't get the publicity that the consoles do.
You cannot sat that the PC version is the best version when everyone doesn’t have a powerful PC. I have a 7970 in my PC and I can promise you that my PC is not as powerful as the X. So if I were to play Metro on my PC would it be the best version? Doubtful. The PC version can be the best IF you have enough the money thrown into your PC.
The PC will be the best version. Doesn't matter if one PC can do it or 1,000,000. The best versions of multiplats are on that platform. This isn't new and should require any discussion.
On top of that, the article states: "Of course, Beynon is clearly referring to the console market here. Metro Exodus will also launch on PC and there it should be the first game to implement NVIDIA’s RTX technology for real-time raytracing when it launches on February 22nd, 2019. NVIDIA’s upcoming GTX 1100 series will feature hardware support for RTX, presumably delivering optimized performance compared to earlier GPUs."
So, like people said, the PC version will the best version. On the flip side, it'll be interesting to see what they come up with for the X1, considering, well, it is the stronger hardware.
"You cannot sat that the PC version is the best version" Anyone can because it's the true. PC version will be superior. Whether or not your PC can run it on ultra is irrelevant as it doesn't change the fact that the best version will be experienced on PCs.
Not every Xbox player has the x... a majority to be technical play on Xbox one or s. So is it the majority install base that gives a w then? If so, ps4 is the console for the win according to your logic.
I love this site it's gone from the Xbox needs to be more powerful to well PlayStation exclusives look better and 3 party's is well pcs always have the best version of the game. Come on guys keep picking up the goal posts and move them.
You do realise that only a million or so people own an Xbox One X but waaaaaaay more than a million people own a PC as capable or more capable than Xbox One X? Right? Riiiiiiight?
Therefore your post and argument is null, void, irrelevant and dimwitted.
PC has the best version.
It'll have it for millions more on launch, and millions more and more than that in a year as more people buy even more advanced new PC hardware far beyond the ability of Xbox One X.
By your logic, we can’t include X or Pro into hardware topics either because not every PS4/ Xbone owner has one of those. If you’re going to talk about X’s high end console status as if it’s somehow the standard, then it’s only fair to factor in PC as well, when talking about a game that’s on both. Even if only one single PC was more powerful than X, that would still mean that’s highest end version of any multiplat.
"So if I were to play Metro on my PC would it be the best version?"
Maybe your PC isn't the best. But the PC version you bought is certainly the best version. The PC version has higher graphics settings and more flexibility. It has those things regardless of which you choose to use. On PC the level of hardware you have is always a choice.
If you buy a Blu-ray player and hook it up to an old 480p standard definition TV you won't enjoy much of what the Blu-ray movie you just bought offers, but the Blu-ray version of that movie is still superior to the DVD version. It doesn't stop being superior just because you choose to play it back on lower quality hardware.
Likewise, sales numbers really have no relevance in a discussion about quality. A superior thing is still superior whether it sold 10 or 10,000,000 units. And does anyone even have solid sales figures for the Xbox One X, the PS4 Pro and PC graphics cards at or above that level? Not that it would matter, but I would bet a heavy sum of money that there are more people with PCs with specs that outperform either upgraded console than there are people that own those consoles.
you do realize that the same hardware components are in the xbox as a pc right? x86, just without the full windows os but a custom os both built by Microsoft. It's just a different box... show me for 450$ where I can get a pc that plays these games at this quality at this price.
Ok. But a PC does a lot more than play games. You can’t buy a console that does what a PC does. So if you are going to switch the discussion from power to cost then might as well include what comes with that cost.
@razzer I already have a PC, got it years ago for 199$ w/ a monitor, it can do everything I need a pc (web, dev, adobe, email etc) for, just not games, so why spend 1200$+ on a pc when I can spend 450$?
@Razzer the pc isn't upgradeable its an all in one, my point is, neither of my pcs are upgradeable beyond ram. I don't have alot of free time anymore, I used to build pc's back in the day when I had more time. Right now its more cost effective and convenient to game on a console.
You do realize that any decent PC built in the last 10 years, starting with an i7 920 which came out in 2008 is capable of a simple GPU upgrade to propel it far past an X1X right?
i7 920 still craps on the Jaguar in X1X and it isn't even close.
Let alone anyone that built/bought a decent PC in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, etc.
People forget that you don't have to completely replace your PC to run games better. Maybe someone upgraded their ram from 6 or 8 to 12 /16 or 24/32 gb's somewhere along the way. Both console and PC's can use upgrade hard drives so that really doesn't figure in as they are the same.
This doesn't mean X1X isn't a good value for someone without a decent PC in the last 10 years, but it does mean anyone with a decent PC in the last 10 years that hasn't somehow gone bad has the option to relatively cheaply upgrade their PC.
Also when they do, their CPU will run circles around Jaguar and allow 60-120 FPS (or higher) on games even the X1X is running at 30.
I agree, you can't quite do it for the same price. The XB1X is a good deal for what it offers. However, for not that much more money you can get a PC that gives you even better performance, is upgradeable, offers much more flexibility, broader and deeper mod support, backwards compatibility, the world of emulation, and can do a million other things besides that.
Huh? You're not funny. This game, especially on PC, will easily be one of the best looking games yet. I won't be entirely surprised if in February when it comes out it happens to be the best looking game period. On PC it's one of the first games to use real time ray tracing.
Obviously top line pc hardware is on top but I’m assuming he’s talking about consoles? Glad to see them utilising the most powerful console to its fullest, I was against partity back when PS4 had the power advantage and I’m still against it now
No he's talking PC to because if he wasn't it would say... "ALLOW DEVELOPERS TO DO THINGS THEY CAN'T DO ON PS4PRO" it says other hardware which means PC.
It is still an issue imo, well at least on the Memory side of things. Rarely we see Sharper Textures, Draw Distance and overall LOD on multiplats which is an issue to me. Sure more powerful GPU gives you higher native res and extra graphical bells and whistles over the Pro and the CPU being stronger just makes the 4k frame rate be steady, But having 4+gb of V-RAM should give us more LOD imo
I've said it before and I firmly believe that MS's long term strategy is to have the X be the entry level console into next gen. When Xbox One 2 rolls out, you will see the Xbox One X be allowed to run n games that the standard one won't be able to without lots of compromise and act as the defecto new entry level low priced box for Xbox. They'll start ramping down production of the S in the coming years and with some price cuts you will only find X's as their main offering leading into the next generation of console.
Gees dude you're blowing my mind... I've never thought of it like that. I bet you are correct but boy will it screw Xbox one and S owners. Seems like it's already beginning.
That would work only if they patched every game on X and Next-X as the next generation machine will need a different CPU and that means patching for forward and backward compatibility will be necessary.
it’ll be much like a min pc, recommended pc and best PC when they launch. That’s why MS has been talking no more generations. Everything moves forward and back
Kribwalker, different CPU will make it more akin to PC development with more variables to account for. This moves slightly away from optimization goals unless they only support forward playing and not legacy devices, even then every single XBO game will need to be patched or a completely separate virtual environment set up to handle BC on the next console with a new CPU.
On PC anything is possible
PC best version, but this is a goid second
What is this title. Must be on the ps1 or mega drive.....
My X is ready!
