okay this is just ridiculous at this point. 85$ average how the hell is it this bad, you can buy a full game on launch + a game on a sale with that kind of money.

DarkVoyager2130d ago

I haven’t spent this much yet but I don’t care to spend a little ever now and then. I’ve played it many hours and continue to play so I feel I get my money’s worth. They release updates and new content at a fast pace and they support their game very well. The only thing I disagree with is how much the charge for cosmetics. Especially the skins.

zivtheawesome2130d ago

sure i don't mind paying like 20$ for a F2P game, just so the game can keep on going, but there is no reason that the average spending will be that high, especially when you got other games that are working a lot harder on creating a compelling game at full 60$ price and end up having less revenue. if players on average spend 85$ on F2P games, I don't see why other games don't cost 85$ on launch as well. the consumer definitely seems to show no issue with doing that going by that fortnite survey.

darthv722130d ago (Edited 2130d ago )

My son has spent more than that on Team Fortress 2... Every chance he gets he is out buying another $20 steam card so he can add more to his in game character.

God forbid he ever discover Fortnite (although he has mentioned it once or twice).

Sciurus_vulgaris2130d ago

The range of amount spent on in-game purchases is probably very broad. Some people spend a few bucks, while others are willing to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

Kabaneri2130d ago

They proved how inferior loot boxes are as microtransactions. Yes the skins are insanely expensive, but you know exactly what you're getting. I bought a few but Im ok with it because Ive played this game far more than any $60 game.

FITgamer2130d ago (Edited 2130d ago )

I've spent $25, which isn't bad considering I've put almost 300 hours into the game. I have a few friends who have already spent $200-$400. Shit is crazy.

Bobafret2130d ago

This is why I steer clear of ftp trash. Sure, it's my decision to buy in-game or not, but the whole idea is sleazy to me. It preys upon human weakness.

Sirk7x2130d ago (Edited 2130d ago )

The game is free though. People are spending money on it because they want cosmetics, and that is their own choice. Has no bearing on game mechanics. It's not half as bad as Magic: The Gathering. If you want to keep up in that game with standard decks, people have to spend hundreds a year.

letsa_go2130d ago

It really is embarrassing!

I don't see the big deal with this game honestly

edeprez2130d ago

The worst part is that a good portion puff those people spent 0$. There's people like myself that didn't care for the game, and others(like children) that don't have access to a credit card. That means there's some "whales" out there spending absurd amounts of money on digital clothing.

Funny thing is they’d still turn around and say how the game is “free”

FPS_D3TH2130d ago (Edited 2130d ago )

And they wouldn’t be wrong

-Foxtrot2130d ago

They would if they just spent £85 on it, more then a standard retail game

FPS_D3TH2130d ago (Edited 2130d ago )

lol please... That’s a choice the player made. Did you skip over the part where it says 1 in 5 still don’t understand that it doesn’t give you an advantage? That it’s all purely cosmetic? What’s the point in making a game if you’re not making some sort of income?

Eidolon2130d ago

Battle Royale is free, but not the Save the World campaign.

JackBNimble2130d ago

The game is free, it's your problem if you want to spend money on skins.

MuddyWaters2130d ago (Edited 2130d ago )

Always an angle isn't there to focus on. This constant need to flip everything around just because in this case they offer paid content. Optional paid content I might add. So let's just focus on how it's not entirely free and just give another little dig and how everything is just terrible. Let's forget how none of the paid content is required but monetized in a way to help maintain the servers, or constantly having to monitor and balance the game. Because you complaining on the internet every day takes a lot more work than what they do. Or are you just upset over how others want to spend their money?

BlackRaven85_12130d ago

@-Foxtrot Funny, you bring up more than a standard retail game. How's The Last of Us: Remastered? Does It still have those 25+ tackled on add-on's people CAN purchase if they didn't get it on PS3? If you buy all of them, then you're spending over the base price, just around $30 to be exact. It's people's choice. ;)

Fist4achin2130d ago

$85 bucks, what did you have to pay for your ammo?!

Psychosious2130d ago

Not many know the cost of true ammo.

Fist4achin2130d ago

Just being a little facetious.
