Cyberpunk 2077's Behind-Closed-Door Gameplay Stole the Show at E3 2018 | MediaStinger

MediaStinger: "CDPR’s new game was the best thing we saw at E3, which are big words after The Last of Us 2 just debuted gameplay that looks even better than Naughty Dog’s first masterpiece. There’s no question Cyberpunk is going to be worth the wait."

they were too embarrassed to show gameplay at the show. how much did they pay you guys?

Naughty Dog doesn't have to hide their games because they're truly masterclass.
but i guess you can't prove me wrong because, well, you have nothing to show do you?

RpgSama2136d ago

He may be trolling, but to be honest, for a company that is SO Pro-Consumer as CDPR I'm actually surprised and a little taken back by them deciding not to show any gameplay to us, their fans, and showing 50 minutes of it to Media.

They should care more about us, the people that support them, and have been waiting patiently for years and years on Cyberpunk

spicelicka2136d ago

Wtf are you talking about?????

Game is way too far from release. Naughty Dog didn't show gameplay last year even though LoU2 was already announced, were they embarrassed? I guess you can't prove me wrong.

LOL I think I just embarrassed you.

Oschino19072136d ago

I don't recall any articles from last year claiming TLOU2 "stole the show".

spicelicka2136d ago

@Oschino1907

It's an idiotic comment. CDPR showed a trailer and chose to showcase the game behind closed door because they didn't feel it's ready for the public yet. Wtf does that have to do with being embarrassed??

The author says it stole the show. It's just an opinion based on what he/she saw. It has nothing to do with CDPR trying to hide their game due to embarrassment.

Last of us 2 looks amazing, but clearly Sampsonson is a fanboy who couldn't take what the author wrote without getting his balls tangled up.

sampsonon2136d ago (Edited 2136d ago )

wow! you're making this way too easy.

1st, the game has been in development before 2012 https://www.youtube.com/wat...
the last of us 2 has been in development since 2014 which is 2 years after punk, maybe more.

2nd, "Cyberpunks's 2077's Behind-Closed-Door Gameplay Stole the Show at E3 2018"
if the game play is that good why the hell is it behind closed doors? it's not like they didn't show game play to some in the media, why? $$$$$$$

plus the trailer they showed looked last gen and was nothing great.

"Naughty Dog didn't show gameplay last year even though LoU2 was already announced"

cyberpunk was announced years before the last of us 2 was https://www.youtube.com/wat...

"LOL I think I just embarrassed you."

no, you just embarrassed yourself.

Skull5212136d ago

The difference is CP2077 will be an epic, content filled RPG. TLoU2 will be a 12 hour linear shooter.

starchild2136d ago

@ samsonon

You're just embarrassing yourself further with your second comment.

"plus the trailer they showed looked last gen and was nothing great."

I mean, way to go off the deep end, man. Claiming that trailer looked like an Xbox 360/PS3 game? Is that what you're going with? Hahahahaha

Actually, it looked so good many people all over the net were claiming it was prerendered CGI. Then, as more people realized it was entirely in-engine footage, many were saying "yeah, but the actual game will never look that good...the current consoles could never render anything that good". A lot of people are saying that there's no way it's current gen and that it is actually going to be a next generation game.

But those that saw the 50 minute gameplay demo have said the trailer is pretty representative of the actual game. This is just one example: https://youtu.be/yHXsWzJQ4r...

Everybody that saw it seems to be almost universally blown away. And comments about the graphics have likewise expressed how extremely impressive the game is.

Here's what John Linneman from Digital Foundry had to say about the game after he saw the demo:

"Cyberpunk 2077 is legit. I can’t even imagine this being current gen. Like holy shit. It’s like Deus Ex + Crysis + Witcher at a scale and level of detail that I’ve never seen. It’s the kind of game I’ve dreamt of for ages. That was one hell of an hour."

I remember when Witcher 3 was also shown behind closed door for the first time and i remember Angry Joe hyping the shit out of that game like it's was so mind blowing what they saw. After getting hands on with the final release it did n't seem as mind blowing as everyone hyped it up to be.Don't get me wrong it was an amazing game but thinking back at the reactions from behind closed door reveal it would appear to be some sort of placebo effect going on here.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

xenz2136d ago

Eh.. The Witcher 3 was absolutely deserving of the hype that it recieved. It exceeded my expectations. And no, it's not just a good game. It's fucking amazing

getbacktogaming2136d ago

Angry Joe is always a little hyper... And it seems loads of people agree the game was ultimately amazing so if anything I am even more excited for Cyberpunk 2077!

starchild2136d ago

The Witcher 3 blew away my expectations in nearly every way. It's currently my GOAT. I'm sure if I saw a behind closed door gameplay session at that time I would have been just as hyped as Angry Joe.

sampsonon2136d ago (Edited 2136d ago )

%100

the witcher was boring

carcarias2136d ago

Well, I can only speak for myself but I've been playing games for over 35 years and W3 certainly blew me away. It's in my top 3 GamesOAT.

Pancit_Canton2136d ago

They basically used a over the top PC to play this game. Max settings on everything. The console version is probably going to be a fraction of what they showed on the E3 behind closed door

•CPU: Intel i7-8700K @ 3.70 GHz
•MB: ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I GAMING
•RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V, 2x16GB, 3000MHz, CL15
•GPU: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
•SSD: Samsung 960 Pro 512 GB M.2 PCIe
•PSU: Corsair SF600 600W

I like CD Project RED, but they have a habit of showing a PC version with over the top settings to hyped the game. Somewhat very misleading in my opinion.

xenz2136d ago

They probably needed this beefy PC to make it run smooth enough. Game is far from being optimized. Specs requirements will be lower

Yui_Suzumiya2136d ago (Edited 2136d ago )

Wondering how it would run on a Packard Bell 75MHz CPU with 16MB RAM, 512MB Hard drive and Windows 3.1 .. my first computer

FPS_D3TH2136d ago

You’re forgetting about optimization. Something that makes all the difference. What they showed was not running perfect even on a rig like that.

starchild2136d ago

Optimization occurs as development continues, especially towards the end. You can't judge anything by what they are running it on now. Game performance can increase by leaps and bounds with further fine tuning and optimization.

edeprez2136d ago

That in no way means that they needed that much horsepower to run their demo. If I were a high profile developer showcasing my game for the first time to the press, I would take every precaution, and have as much overhead as possible to make sure there were no hiccups. Aside from that, this game is probably years away. We will likely be playing on different consoles by the time this game launches, and it will probably be amazing.

Sorry, not trying to have a go at you here but you bringing up Naughty Dog shows what's really got you upset.

Relax, they'll both be fantastic games I imagine :) It's a win-win.

As for why they won't show us the footage? I imagine it's because of the crapstorm they got when they showed Witcher 3 a few months from release. People compared it to the E3 footage 1-2 years previous and immediately flew into a rage. CDPR forums were full of it right up to launch day. I think the directors even mentioned that they wouldn't make the same mistake with CP2077.

That probably means they'll only show footage when they are absolutely certain that what we see is what we get on launch day.

sampsonon2136d ago (Edited 2136d ago )

@starchild: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-c...

the game looked bad compared to any ps4 exclusive from 2017 or games set to release in the next couple years.

maybe if they showed us game play i would think differently, but all we get is nothing.

https://www.google.ca/searc...

spicelicka2136d ago

Why does it matter when it was announced lol, good games take time to make. Also it's an open world RPG, which takes more time and resources.

Deciding to reveal your game publicly is a very careful decision. You don't have to agree that it "stole the show" but it has nothing to with embarrassment.

sampsonon2136d ago (Edited 2136d ago )

it matters because everyone's excuse for them not showing the public gameplay is that it might have been rough around the edges and therefore CD didn't want to show it just yet, bull. they could have put together a 10 minute gameplay trailer like the rest of the gaming world to show some respect for people that are waiting for the game. Naughty Dog will have completed three titles within the time it's taking CD to make this game, and yes i understand it's an open world and blah blah blah, but that's still no excuse for not showing game play after 7 years of development.

"Embarrassed"
perhaps i used the wrong word, but my point still stands. this game was announce in 2012 and has been worked on at least a year or two before that, so i fail to see how a game that is most likely in its 7th year of development is being held back from the people that are actually going to buy it, and yet we get to hear second hand experiences from a few in the media, that could have an agenda touting it as the second coming.

"wow! game of E3"
f that give that title to a game that was showed gameplay, instead of this f ing "believe me this game is amazing!" bull.
if it was so amazing why not show some gameplay to us?

spicelicka2135d ago (Edited 2135d ago )

@Sampsonon

The problem is you're using the reaction of some author who wrote this article to determine the intention of CDPR's E3 showing and judging their work.

"if it was so amazing why not show some gameplay to us?"

Like here for example. CDPR didn't announce that they won E3 or "stole the show". They chose to show the game how they wanted, why would they pay anyone to say this if the game is already insanely hyped?

Secondly, only the concept was announced in 2012. Witcher 3 released in 2015, and Cyperpunk didn't even go into pre-production till 2016 after Blood and Wine DLC was released. So it's literally been 2 years into the game's development.

If want to call out the article then go ahead, but it has nothing to do with CDPR.

sampsonon2135d ago (Edited 2135d ago )

"Secondly, only the concept was announced in 2012" not true they had another team
working on the game for a few years before the announcement
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

the trouble with showing only the media game play demos is you leave it to interpretation and sometimes these media types don't want to be on the bad side of a company like CDPR because they want to be invited to play and get info before others.... it's kind of benefits their jobs to have such access.

over 7 years in development and still nothing to show the public? i find that suspect.

my opinion.

jeremyj29132136d ago

Why do they still have behind closed doors showings at E3? I never really understood it.

getbacktogaming2136d ago

I guess they don't want the competition to see and copy good ideas before release given it may still be a while...

starchild2136d ago

To show the gaming press what they're working on. The wider gaming community contains some really immature, hateful people that will attack games if they change during development. It's wiser to wait until your systems are settled into place and your graphics have been balanced to a decent degree and you're more sure that no significant changes will have to be made.

Showing it to the press still allows them to get a lot of feedback and build excitement for the game as those people report on what they saw to the rest of us.

Nacho_Z2136d ago

Hit the nail on the head there.

Smokehouse2136d ago

A few bad eggs ruining it for the rest of us is never an acceptable excuse.

jeremyj29132136d ago

You kno what, that actually makes a ton of sense. I remember when THQ showed Darksiders 2 and Death had a different animation for his attack that launched enemies into the air. I was convinced it was probably later in the game but just ended up butt hurt by the end. Lol

Ausbo2136d ago

Show me the gameplay at gamescom plz.

MrChow6662136d ago (Edited 2136d ago )

I'm getting sick of reading how amazing the demo is, I want to see it dammit

CrimsonWing692136d ago

oh that's cool, just rub it in for everyone that can't see it...

Why can't they make this stuff public!? The people talk about it so they might as well show it... geezus

Well they are using unreal engine now thanks to there work culture and horrific job on making cyberpunk so for the future no impact.

But it will be interesting to see what mods will be made

7 disagrees shows how many look at one dlc that had a rip off fight from ghost in the shell and goes wow what a goat team i love cdpr while ignoring that they only made 2 games that were good witcher 2/3 in 20yrs.

But its a new world we want a criminal that support's legal murder as president/support shoplifting love toxic work environments and have a mass casualty event every other day.

GhostMirror4d ago

I’ll admit I didn’t play it at launch, but Cyberpunk 2077 is a really good game now.

And who the hell knows what you’re even going on about in your second paragraph here.

EazyC4d ago

Wait a min...I swear to god CP2077's source code got leaked before. CDPR needs to stop using "password123" for all their accounts 😅

just_looken4d ago

Na its hundreds ex employees no doubt just getting there revenge.

Profchaos4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

This is the same leak the threat actors have been trying to sell the source code after cd project didn't pay the ransom.

They didn't manage to sell the source code to any company largely because it would be unethical for say EA to buy it so the threat actors failed to find a buyer.

After they failed to make any money they went through with their threat of simply giving it away.

They also need to drop esg then hire employees that have knowledge not hire them because they have a set of tits.

Official video they hired people to fill the esg clipboard
