Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that Assassin's Creed won't return to a fixed annual release cycle, despite Odyssey. The installments will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
Whew. good to know.
Probably for the best
Origins is fantastic and Odyssey looks great too, but no way do I want a game every single year.
I do admit it can be hard to keep up when they come out every year.
That's good. Yeah if Odyssey is ready then by all means release it this year. But annual releases really hurt the series, so just don't push the games out until they're ready.
Couldn't agree more.
I wonder when Ubisoft will stop milking Assassin's Creed. I mean what are we on Assassin's creed 20 now.
@Youngindy21 For all the hate AC gets since the series started they have released a decent number of games that are at least good, almost all (main entries) have been ok. ACII and Black Flag are earlier entries that are regarded as great. The new direction they've recently taken the series just produced Origins, easily the best in the series IMO and one of the best games of last year. As long as what Yves says is true and every once and a while we go a couple years without an AC, I don't see a huge problem.
Lol, I lost count.
From what they've shown of oddysey, it looks way more fun to play and way more polished than origins, so if it's as ready as it looks then I see no reason not release this year.
I loved origins but odyssey looks identical and with all the other games coming out i'll probably give it a miss. they definitely need leave it at least a few years between games and make them more varied
