Stop Forcing Multiplayer Into Single Player Games

Multiplayer or single player?  Developers, you can do both, just not willy-nilly.

I disagree. Even if the single player campaign is uninspired, it still leaves me with a game to play once the servers are shut down. Otherwise it becomes a paperweight.

Profchaos2535d ago

I feel like those comments above are a dig at cod but in actual fact trophy days shows at least 40% of players finished the campaigns.

That's not huge but in reality it's no small number

Gazondaily2535d ago

Why would you want to be left with a shite component in a game?

The half life of many MP games is long.

Jinger2535d ago

But are you going to care about playing the crap SP mode more than once? Or more than once YEARS later when better games are around?

gangsta_red2535d ago

Who plays a crap, uninspired game years after?

Goldenarmz2535d ago

by the time the servers shut down you have more than likely moved on to the next game in the series. So stop it.

Especially vice versa.

Multiplayer on single player games like the examples listed on the articles can be annoying to get used to, but is a clever way to implement online features on a single player game.

Invasions on Dark Souls are made for additional challenge and created a whole PvP community. And you can choose to play offline, or not be invaded if you want.

So I don't really see the problem.

But crappy campaigns on multiplayer games (most modern FPS for examples) are a much worse phenomenon.

Can’t believe he knocks dark souls, the multiplayer/co-op systems are what makes it unique and one of my favorite series of all time. Let developers make the games they want and if you don’t like that type of game, don’t buy it.

I do agree. The gaming industry is big enough to accommodate both the single player and multiplayer game. It creates variety and most multiplayer games are very replayable. I just don’t understand why some people want everything to become single player experience only.

The single player only requests is a side effect of the market whose played games for decades wanting nothing to do with the current generation of BR, youtuber, twitch, streaming, politics, season passes, microtransactions, online only and social games that have brought in tons of corporations looking to ring out money from the hottest trends. I don't blame them, they just want good video games with no bull.

thatguyhayat2535d ago

I remember the dude from platinum games and Microsoft weren't on good terms cause Phil wanted multiplayer option when they didnt.

Youngindy212535d ago

I agree. Unless it's co-op, I don't want other people interrupting my single player experience. They gave good examples in the article with MGS V and Dark Souls. When playing Nioh, I don't even connect to the internet because I don't have time to battle random d-bags.

Magnetar2534d ago

It’s what makes dark souls unique, if you don’t like it don’t play it or play offline.
