1UP writes: "Square Enix is starting a line of casual-focused games called "Pure." Snoopy DS is one of these new titles (the other Pure title at the show was a minigame collection with a penguin mascot), with a storyline serving as an excuse for a set of Snoopy-related minigames.
This was the first time that we've seen the game, and we were happily surprised with the first minigame: a short, horizontal-scrolling shooter featuring Snoopy, his recognizable red doghouse, and the Red Baron. Unfortunately, it took us quite a while to access this treat. You start the game by creating your own persona to add to the Peanuts gang (ours looked a bit like a female version of Charlie Brown), and then you wander around town talking to Linus and the gang. Charlie Brown may ask you to give a football to someone, and then that person will trade you a baseball, and so on."
411mania talks about this week's game releases. Highlights include Demigod, Dokapon Journey, The Dark Spire, the Final Fantasy XIII Demo + Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete, and Air Conflicts.
Oh, good old Charlie Brown, our wishy-washy hero of the Peanuts comic strip. Whether he is visiting Lucy for psychiatric advice, falling victim to the pull-the-football-away trick for the hundredth time, or just sighing wistfully over that unnamed red-haired girl, he represents the underdog we can all empathize with. Of course, Charlie Brown's dog is equally famous, if not moreso. Snoopy isn't just a canine, however: he's a World War I flying ace, Joe Cool, and a star of the disco floors. Square Enix's new kid-friendly Pure Dreams brand is also looking to make him the star of the Nintendo DS. GameSpot saw a trailer for this upcoming game at Square's open theater at the Tokyo Game Show, and also got a few moments of hands-on time with Snoopy DS to see just what the beagle had in store for us.
Screens of Square Enix's new character brand.
