TT Gamer: Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Review

TT Gamer writes: "When you look at EA as a game company, you see the largest third party game publisher and producer that basically has their fingers in every pie possible. Whether it's sports, shooters or real time strategy, if there's a big market for something in games, EA are there to capitalize with, if not quality, then at least terrific marketing. That is, except for one very significant market, the MMORPG market. While EA have certainly tried to tap into MMO's in the past, little success has been granted to the gaming giant when things start going purely online. Motor City Online, anyone? With Activision and Vivendi Games merging to create Activision Blizzard this year, hence bringing the MMORPG sensation World of Warcraft into the grasp of their largest competitor, EA needed to respond, and perhaps something to finally once again establish a foothold in this booming genre after the success that was Ultima Online. This has arrived in the form of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, which comes from the MMO savvy developers in Mythic Entertainment, and while Activision Blizzard may not be shaking in their boots quiet yet, EA should enjoy some new found market share with this quality MMORPG."

Titan was supposed to revolutionize and revitalize the MMO genre, but it certainly was not the first to crash and burn before its first flight. Here are some MMOs whose ambitions flew them too close to the sun."

12 Dead Online Video Games That Should Never Have Ended

The closing of multiplayer services can happen for a number of reasons. Sometimes there just aren’t enough people using a product to justify keeping it running while in others it could be down to complicated legal wrangling, like expiring licensing agreements, or even a desire to bring out a new installment.

One thing is clear though – many of these discontinued games simply don’t deserve to die, to be cut down in their prime leaving players without a viable alternative and waste all that time the audience invested in them. With that in mind, this article will count down the 12 games least deserving of being shut down, the ones that players the world over wished had kept going.
