Alan Wake studio, Remedy, is gearing up to reveal new IP at E3

Remedy is gearing up to reveal its latest project at this year’s E3, currently known simply as Project 7.
P7 was first spotted in an earnings report for Remedy, with a suggested launch window being 2019. Not much is known about Project 7 aside from it being a brand new title gracing PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with more information coming as a part of 505 Games’ lineup. It is, however, expected to retain the studio’s traditional cinematic storytelling approach, while incorporating online elements.

Long-time Remedy fan, I'm hoping this is something special that harkens back to their glory days.

They took a risk that didn't pay off with Quantum Break. Looking forward to witnessing this reveal at E3.

I actually liked quantum break, but the tv show part killed the momentum

WilliamSheridan2202d ago

I can see how it was good for some. I just would have preferred if it was separated. I'd rather play my games and watch my tv at different times

-Foxtrot2202d ago

I want to get excited because Remedy and all that but they've said they are focusing on online features with this one...they are a single player driven company and with Quantum Break couldn't even deliver on that

DigitalRaptor2202d ago (Edited 2202d ago )

Online features? Oh man they just couldn't stay away could they?... I'm disappointed, but thanks for the info.

DarkOcelet2202d ago

It's too bad really. I personally enjoyed Quantum Break even though I hated how it closed on a cliffhanger when things were getting good but then again the same thing happened with Alan Wake.

It's sad to see them going the multiplayer route instead of making Alan Wake 2 or Quantum Break 2.

-Foxtrot2202d ago

I could only understand multiplayer if they were still making games for Microsoft as that's what they are like but considering they don't need to impress anyone anymore and they've seen how well single player games have done on the PS4 why do it. At least make a straight forward single player driven game before giving up and cashing in on multiplayer.

Gazondaily2202d ago

As a fan of online gaming...bring it on Remedy! 😍

ThinkThink2202d ago

I'm a fan of remedy doing whatever excites them. Maybe it resonates with me, maybe it doesn't. Still think they're a solid developer.

gangsta_red2202d ago

I seriously hope it's something similar to Overwatch!!

Oh boy. Can we expect another smash hit like Quantum Break?

Oh wait, it's another online focused piled of trash. I can hardly contain myself.

Concertoine2202d ago

Sounds like they cant win with you

I would like to see something similar to Alan wake. I want a good third person horror title.

FinalFantasyFanatic2202d ago

We really do need more horror games, it's a genre we've been lacking 8n for a while.

Smokehouse2202d ago

Hopefully Bethesda has something this year at E3 as well. I get that it’s a risky venture because “people like watching horror games instead of buying them” but there is a solid one to two million of us waiting for those games. Their budget just needs to take that into consideration.

Lamboomington2202d ago

I want Alan Wake :(

Still very excited to see their next project. A very talented studio with some fantastic ideas.

Well that's an awesome and very surprising turnaround. Cheers to the new studio and what they'll build!

RaidenBlack12h ago

Likely to continue their FPS project

Cacabunga23m ago

It is not about money it is about talent.. get that talent in and they will take care of you and earn you that money

Eonjay23m ago

I had picked up on this before the Deviation shutdown was announced. It was pointed out that a senior manager of the team had joined PlayStation prior to the close. It was a little suspicious because from the outside in, it appeared had basically poached Deviation's talent.

Reading some of the other comments it seems this is understood to be the case.

In other news it would be wild if Sony winds up announcing a brand new internal studio.

isarai10h ago

That's..... confusing, so shut down but just reformed and same employer 🤔 sounds like pretty much what happened to Japan Studio basically just being rebranded as Asobi

ocelot079h ago

It is odd one I don't know how business deals work or the law of that kind of stuff. But is it possible Sony reached out and said hey we want you apart of Sony but don't want to purchase you for what ever reason. How about use disband and we will open a studio and hire you guys type of thing. Is that even possible?

isarai9h ago

Maybe it's to void/bypass some contract? I have no clue

VersusDMC5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

I guess the deviation team fell apart and didn't deliver good progress on what they pitched (they overhyped themselves when the team was announced)so Sony shut them down. They regrouped with a new team and a new pitch so Sony is giving them another shot.

And this time they are keeping it quiet to keep pressure down on the team. So people aren't asking everyday what deviation(or whatever the new team is called) is doing.

Edit: Also Sony never owned them. They just ended their partnership with them. Deviation decided to close on their own.

outsider16245h ago

Good point. You know, i was thinking of Days Gone too. They pitch an idea to Sony for Days Gone 2 but Sony didnt like it do they scrapped the whole thing. Maybe if a good pitch came by...they'd reconsider it.

isarai4h ago

That makes a bit more sense

lodossrage3h ago

To be fair, Sony didn't shut them down. Devation was independent. Sony pulled funding on the project they were working on. As a result, they couldn't run so Devation decided to close on their own.

roboteye5h ago

If this was MS they'd be gone.

Goodguy015h ago

Maybe make a smaller game this time?

Elda4h ago

Good for them that they were able to work it out. Hopefully they're developing something interesting.

Rainbowcookie3h ago

I think Sony is thinking long term as a replacement for Call of Duty M$ edition.
