State of Decay 2 Dev: Many Bugs Will Be Fixed; Blemishes Are Overcome by Quality Gameplay Experience

Undead Labs Design Director Richard Foge addressed a common criticism from the press and said many of the current bugs will be fixed by the time State of Decay 2 is released. He then added that blemishes are ultimately overcome by the quality of the gameplay experience.

Still have to play the first one

TheCommentator2611d ago

The first one was much greater than the sum of its parts would imply. I know what they mean when they say that, "...blemishes are ultimately overcome by the quality of the gameplay experience."

mark_parch2610d ago

I just hope they change how you are tethered and not free to explore away from your partners in co-op, that's my only problem with the game form what I have seen so far

Cybermario2611d ago

had hopes for this one, please senpai fix it!

codelyoko2611d ago

They should delay it, another underwhelming exclusive would be majorly disappointing for Xbox.

DarkVoyager2611d ago

According to Gamespot the game is currently a mess. They said there’s lag when playing co-op especially when traveling together in a vehicle and the frame rate tanks on Xbox One X. The game is also full of bugs as we already know.

Prince_TFK2611d ago

“Undead Labs Design Director Richard Foge addressed a common criticism from the press and said many of the current bugs will be fixed by the time State of Decay 2 is released. ”

Literally under the headline.

KaiPow2611d ago

Isn't that what a public beta is for?

OC_MurphysLaw2611d ago

fyi...they do have a beta sign up on their site. I assume this will be focused on the PC side since there are more variables there.

Jinger2611d ago

The first game had flaws as well, but again, the quality gameplay experience still made it a fantastic game.

This sequel looks fantastic, can't wait.

OC_MurphysLaw2611d ago

Oh wait...you mean all these game previews were not final code review despite crap click bait titles like "Final Impressions"? So they actually are working on bug fixes right now instead of just sitting around drinking margaritas waiting for the game to launch on May 22nd... who would have thought developers would do such a thing?

jokerisalive2611d ago

its messed up isnt it how much bias is really out there against anything Xbox related by sites/people. SOD 2 looks good and will be alot of fun regardless of what the haters are trying to say prematurely about it. Plenty of people including me are looking forward to it and will be getting it day one.

AspiringProGenji2611d ago

Lol claim eveyone is biased againts Xbox but never blame the company for their half assed games. It is starting ti make sense why they are giving all these games on Game Pass. Enjoy!

Alexious2611d ago

I think the press is worried because we're so close to release.

SkippyPaccino2611d ago

Around this time the press was getting review copies of God of War... It's 3 weeks away, the gaming press has a right to be worried and will give them the benefit of the doubt that it will be sorted out on release. But as a paying customer I rather they tell me the negatives now before I plunk down 40$...

trooper_2611d ago

Oh no, public concern! You know, because they have absolutely no right to be concerned about a game that's coming out so soon!/s

How dare they?!/s

Lamboomington2611d ago

"So they actually are working on bug fixes right now instead of just sitting around drinking margaritas waiting for the game to launch on May 22nd... who would have thought developers would do such a thing?"

You're telling me they'll turn it into a nicely polished experience in a few weeks ? It rarely ever works like that. We've also had examples where it plays out as expected. eg: Project Cars 2

Do you not see this happening during development? Like, why are we apologizing after the fact instead of stopping it during development?

Stopac2h ago

Criticism and reflection occur after the fact. The apology acknowledges the past criticisms with the new expansion and they're keeping transparency with players about it. Now that they've acknowledged it - it will be interesting to see what kind of cycle we'll get with a new expansion and I wonder if they're planning something special with beast master since they didn't mention it in the last live letter.

anast8h ago

It's all good, as long as the price of the product decreases.

Stopac2h ago

The base game and expansion go on sale all the time and doesn't stay full price for very long since a new expansion is on the horizon.

If you're stating they should reduce the price of new expansions or the sub fee, no, that's not gonna happen lmao people aren't even complaining about that. They are criticizing the same old pattern of content that releases and how it is devolving into mediocracy.

anast1h ago

"They are criticizing the same old pattern of content that releases and how it is devolving into mediocracy."

The product should be cheaper then.

PapaBop6h ago

I was unhappy with DT and have spent far less time in it than any other expansion but it's things like this that makes me respect Yoshi P. It's rare for such a high profile developer to be so candid in his assessment on a live game.

Stopac2h ago

Same, i've found my self resubbing every two patches instead of keeping it up. Don't own a home in the game so there's no point in keeping a constant sub going. The post story is getting interesting though.

Playdead co-founder slammed with lawsuit as bitter row with co-founder escalates

Playdead co-founder Dino Patti is allegedly being sued by his former studio and business partner.
Patti was threatened with a lawsuit earlier this year after he posted a now-deleted LinkedIn post that shared an "unauthorized" picture of co-founder Arnt Jensen and discussed some of Limbo's development. Patti said Jensen demanded a little over $73,000 in "suitable compensation and reimbursement," adding that he had "repeatedly" had such letters over the last nine years.
