Various game and server errors for Sony Corp.'s launch of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs: Confrontation caused frustrated Playstation 3 owners to cry foul on launch day.
Malfunction issues included game disconnects, room disconnects, Corrupt File errors, and 'Operation Could Not Be Completed' error messages.
A problem can occur when players are required to download an update to the title. When the update is installed a 'Corrupt File' message appears when it is automatically loaded.
Additionally, when operating through the online menu, random operation error messages prompt the player more than once.
Unhappy buyers took to the game's official online message board to vent.
Last year I wrote an article titled, The State of SOCOM. I discussed my
love and history for the beloved third person shooter that helped pioneer
online multiplayer on consoles. It has been six years since we last had a
new SOCOM game.
Baffles me as to why they have not done anything with this franchise. Seeing as how it was #1 on the official PlayStation poll.
With all the trash put up weekly on the App Store why has nobody done a clone of this yet. I've been playing Defiance as my go to 3rd person since 2013 but still nothing like that old school Socom/Socom 2 up all night gameplay.
the only game on that list that's like socom is wild land if you want socom type games then you will have to invest in a PC
RAINBOW SIX: is the closest you'll get to Socom.
Also, in response to @lookatthisi
They let go the creators, and I think socom is a game that's hard to clone even the creators had a hard time making Socom 2, Socom 3.

"Would you purchase a game you can’t play for a single penny? Video game retailer GameStop seems to think that it is worth trying to sell to this market."
Depends the situation. Usually if they have a trade in X and get Y bonus for preowned purchases, a store will let you have the excess credit if you make 1 purchase and 1 cent is cheap enough where I wouldn't have to bother returning it or eating the cost out of laziness.
Stan replied passionately, sadness creasing his face, “they’re shutting us down. Offline, man, off-fucking-line. I dedicated my life to this, and it’s just ending. This is the last battle.” - PSLS
MAG will be missed, my all-time favorite shooter. They're shutting servers down in January.
'Operation Could Not Be Completed' error messages did appear. Push x a couple times and it goes away. I think it was cause by impatient button mashers. Not sure...
I couldnt get in the servers after the patch installed, but after a hour I got in and everything was smooth sailing. The beta had like 3-4 USeast servers, last night I seen over 15. If anyone expected a smooth first day for an online only game that has a day 1 patch, you are in denial. Its called server overload and I expected it. Maybe its cause I am a realist. My time played was fun tho
There was server maintenance last night and they are doing this now as well.
Luckily, most of the problems are on the server side - the developers are stating server overload.

When someone underestimates the demand for an online game. Classic examples of DOH! include: Ultima Online Classic, Everquest, WoW (until Blizzard created umpteen thousand nodes), EvE Online, Age of Conan (Week one)... You would think that with all the wonderful classic examples throughout online gaming people/companies would learn. Plan high and have the server nodes there even if they are lightly used at least you can shape the traffic and balance. Otherwise you get.. well, this.
socom is all f**k up
i wish i can return it
Slant Six F**k socom up
give it 3 days to sort out ...
Sony should have planned this out better!
