God of War Review - Badass of War | Score-Attacks

L.R Tabakova: In my hours and hours of playthrough in God of War, the impressive take of the fictional world of the Norse mythology was the only aspect of the game I’ve appreciated over its other changes… initially.

It's great that 8.0 is currently the lowest score God of War has received; call be a pessimist, but I'm still waiting for that troll review that will give it a 5/10 just because of whatever stupid reason the reviewer arbitrarily decides upon. Secretly I'm hoping it breaks the 96 meta score barrier :)

For that to happen, it would have to be reviewed by someone who has either never played a GoW game or the appeal of the mythology is not their thing. Not saying it wont happen because lord knows there are lots of people who find certain games unappealing and yet they still review them.

Honestly though, if something doesnt appeal to you then why subject yourself to review it??? Reviews are meant to be objective and therefore more weight is given to them by those who find the content appealing.

I'd argue anybody who plays video games on a consistent basis has the right to write a review. Whether others agree with the score is irrelevant, and why we place so much importance on others rating a, generally popular, game highly has always seemed an odd concept.

That said, just because anybody should be able to review a game doesn't mean that it holds much weight amongst the gaming community if they haven't gained respect for well thought out and logical reviews previously.

My favourite game is The Last of Us. If it was scored a 1/10 by everybody on this forum, it wouldn't change how I perceive the game as my experience and opinion is unique. It is simply nice if others share a similar view.

So, again, there is more credibility and weight applied to a review if it is something that the person is already aware of the style and design rather than a first timer who has no experience.

There are countless games where the negative scores are a reflection of those who have no appeal towards the item they are reviewing. Hence why give a positive score to something that does not appeal to them? Appeal and interest is the main driver to play something. I certainly wouldnt try to play something that does not appeal to me and neither should reviewers who already have a negative view towards the subject material.

It's so crazy how well GIW has been received by critics that an 8 is a low score! An 8 is a really good score but just shows the caliber of this game, that in thus case it's low.

Because when it's one point away from Sea of Thieves scores (quite a few 7s) a game that has little content on release, less beautiful aesthetics, about 2% of the enemies, no real beginning and end, and terrible customisation...

You begin to wonder... Was Sea of Thieves really that good that it's a point less than God of War, or are people just shit reviewers in this day and age?

well when the same site gives far cry 5 ... 8.5 ... a way out 8.5 and looks at god of war and say ... hmm this was a worse experience than those 2, it's kinda sad far cry 5 is an enjoyable experience but i doubt it's the same caliber as god of war.

Im playing far cry 5 and to be honest I find it's better than primal but worse than far cry 3 and 4, and I definitely can't see it being better than GOW.

yep played through far cry 5 and enjoyed it but it's not a generation defining gem ... it's a fun distraction in between AAA games.

AI was too dumb to true ... glitches and bugs popped too often

At least the game has gotten no lower than 8's. I'm sure people want it to get that 96 rating, but to me the fact its in the 90's shows its a fantastic game and game that you shouldn't miss out on if you have PS4 and like the GOW series.
