What's Going On With Spider-Man PS4 Release Date?

Spider-Man has received a lot of games but there has never been a game on the same caliber as the upcoming Spider-Man from Insomniac Games. It is natural for the fans to be excited about not only getting a potentially good blockbuster Spider-Man game, but also one from their favorite developer.

We'll probably hear the release date at E3. Before that time, we'll have Yakuza 6, God of War and Detroit, so it makes sense Sony wants to focus on those first.

They already pushed Days Gone to 19. Probably because they needed more time and to give it a little room to get hype on it's own away from the big releases for this year. That is definitely on my radar and I expect we will see it released early in 2019 though.

Pushed to Q1 2019, my guess is days gone Feb 2019 followed by tlou pt2 May then that will leave kingdom hearts, death stranding, batman, ghost of tsushima, beyond good and evil, anthem, skull and bones to finish the gen on imo. Ps5 announced E3 2019 with price and unveil at psx 2019 followed by a release date of May 2020

I really think they're in a desperate panic with that game. It is virtually XB1s last hope and looks rubbish.... And I LOVED the first one.

All I see is wasted potential, MS should have helped preserve Realtime Worlds, Crackdown as a series could have gone on to be a killer-app but look at the state of it now.

Marvel choose Sony as their gaming publishers choice because Marvel think Sony and Insomniac Studios have the best shot on Spider Man. More importantly, Sony and Their First Party reputation are strong enough to peak Marvel interests.

Sony has the film Rights but Marvel got the game licensing Rights back when their deal with Activision expired in 2014. At that time Marvel started looking for partners for their characters because they wanted them to be treated better than just for movie tie ins. They approached Sony because of how Sony treats 1st party titles and wanted Spider-Man treated the same way. Whether that means Sony has the game rights for multiple games or just this one remains to be seen but I am hoping it's a multi game deal. It probably didn't hurt that in 2015 Sony and Marvel announced the deal they struck to get Spider-Man into the MCU either. In any case we do know that this game will forever be an exclusive and just in time too as they have the animated Spider-Man movie coming out in December.

Wrong. Marvel willingly chose Sony as a partner because they actually care about making good games and are dominating the market. Sony chose Insomniac and asked them what Marvel IP they wanted. Insomniac chose Spiderman.

I can see a realise date provided between God of War and E3. Sony wants all eyes dedicated to God of War for the next 2 weeks. I would be very surprised we here a release date on any other new titles until God of War releases. I could be wrong, however, because they could just be waiting for April in general (new quarter). But after God of War releases they have to start marketing Detroit Become Human harder and quickly. And then we could only assume E3 or sooner we'll get information on Spiderman.

I think it just comes down to Sony revealing dates when they know they are going to land them. We really only got God of War's date 3 months out from release. Detroit is another one. I think this will be a continuing trend. If Spiderman indeed comes out at the end of the year, we wont' know about the release date until post E3.

Yep. We still need to see game play for Ghost Of Tsushima which I hope we see at E3. Also still need game play for The Last Of Us Part 2 but I expect that won't be shown at this E3. Sony really does have a lot of titles in line and it is simply amazing how they have gotten to a point where they can let each stand on its own but also learned not to show too much too far out as well.

Article is factually incorrect. It says they've been radio silent since e3 2017 yet they released new footage at Paris Games Week in October 2017. Not to mention the studio have been very vocal on twitter and in interviews. Clearly just a clickbait article since they know people want to know the Spiderman release date.

I am guessing we will see and hear a lot more about this at E3 and get a release date for September since Oct and beyond will be full of 3rd party titles. Also Sony may be working on another Pro bundle like the God Of War one which would make it a great buy for the Holidays. In any case their focus now is obviously on God Of War and Detroit Become Human then E3.
