Do people still care about gamerscore?

The_Jackel2214d ago

gamerwhat? lol its like trophies/achievements i dont really care about them but then you have people that go nuts for them and try to get them all

PurplePeopleEaters2214d ago

Im sure there are people who do....

GamesMaster19822214d ago (Edited 2214d ago )

Of course people do it gives anotherwise game you paid all that money on more lease of life more reson's to replay and experience stuff that you might not of seen otherwise. I always play my game's the way i want first to experience the story then if i really like it i will go for all the trophys/Achievments.

letsa_go2214d ago

I was talking about gamerscore though, not achievements...although I agree with what you are saying. I agree that they give you something else to work towards once you finish the game...but do you care about the score you get from it? Like, my gamerscore is 27161 but does that matter? Do I get anything for it? I remember last gen people were trying to get the highest score, but that doesn't really seem like a thing people do anymore. At least from what I have seen.

Ra3v3r2214d ago

@letsa_go

Gamerscore now earns you money on the rewards site. I've made a few quid and I'm not even an achievement hunter.

Null19802213d ago

I game on both, but I have to say that unlocking a Platinum feels like much more of an accomplishment. To me, it's my gaming legacy. Someone can look at my list and see the games I really loved, which games I was willing to push myself to ace.

I never got into superficial buffing of gamerscore or trophies, like for instance, Greg Miller formerly of IGN. I'll never forget his Platinum of Hannah Montana the Game JUST to get a Platinum. Haha. Just... no. For me, only games I really enjoyed.

cfc832214d ago

They're alright. I've never set out to get points or achievements though. It's just quite good they're there.

zerocarnage2213d ago (Edited 2213d ago )

There are those that go nuts for gamescore, I myself used to be a gamerscore whore but no more, I just play games and if the score and achievos happens then that's it, I won't go out of my way and spend hours/days/months to work on an achievo no more.

On Xbox, dno about PlayStation, there is even a leader board for gamerscore that is updated every month on who brings the most score in. So yeah it's competitive enough I spose.

Even looks like Microsoft are changing the rewards again, well at least the name from Xbox live rewards to Microsoft rewards, makes it sound a bit more universal for all there devices they're on.

Universal 082213d ago

I used to care back on the 360, on xb1 its not really the focus for the system so I dont care other than to finish games

Kavorklestein2213d ago

I'd actually argue that the Xbox One is MORE focused on achievments.
Games have trackers, rare achievements, global percentages, competitive leaderboards for gamerscore, and integration with tru achievements.

It's more about gamerscore than ever before.

LucasRuinedChildhood2214d ago

Definitely. The Witness is one of the best games this generation and Syndicate is a lot of fun. Both GWG and PS Plus are actually great this month. It's nice to see that both services are consistently offering great games that people really would like to play now because they've both had some rough periods.

PhantomS422214d ago

Haven't play Syndicate so it'll be nice to finally check that out and Dead Space 2 is amazing so not a bad month.

SkippyPaccino2214d ago

Xbox definitely has the edge this month...

GamesMaster19822214d ago

in my opinion as a mainly Playstation player this month's games i think Xbox win's.

EA Shoots Down Dead Space 2 Remake Rumors: 'No Validity to This Story'

EA has shut down rumors that EA Motive considered a Dead Space 2 remake before shelving it due to low sales of the previous game, saying there's "no validity" to the reports.

XiNatsuDragnel13d ago

Sure.... right.... at least remake dead space 3 w/o microtransactions bs.

XiNatsuDragnel11d ago

I sometimes I wished I didn't Ngl lol

Knightofelemia12d ago

Why not remake DS2 whether shot down or not it's still my favorite game next to DS1. As much as I hate EA I would buy or would have bought DS2 day one.

MeteorPanda12d ago

No validity XD "Guys guys, we cant possible make a good game or cater to the gamers wants, stop"

Yi-Long12d ago

I don't know if sales met their expectations or not. I just know that the high review scores received my attention so I was interested in buying it, but its price stayed high (50+ bucks) for so long that I simply never bothered picking it up.

Tacoboto12d ago

Doesn't pay full price
Doesn't pay *any* price
Ponders if sales met expectations regarding an allegedly canceled sequel.

Gee...

Yi-Long11d ago

Well, for starters, I'm sure there are plenty of games I never bought which did, somehow, still, meet their sales-expectations.

Concerning Dead Space; I never played and thus cared for the original. It's in multiple genres (shooter, sci-fi, horror) I don't particularly care about so it was barely on my radar pre-launch. I was never its target-audience.

When reviews hit, and it was scoring big, it gathered my interest, so while it wasn't in my field of interest, it mrans that I wanted to give it a fair shot and at least give it a try, as I do with many games across different genres; I tend to just cherry-pick the good stuff and see if it's for me or not.

But, I do wait for sales on those games I take a risk on.

Kornholic11d ago (Edited 11d ago )

Lol, you are a huge part of the problem. If a very high-quality game is not even worth 50 bucks to you, then what is?

13 Years Later, Dead Space 2 Is Still A Perfect Video Game

Nameer from eXputer: "Dead Space 2 is a sequel that delivers such a feast that by the time you're done, you're not only full but also satisfied."

Aaroncls732d ago

It was amazing. All 3 DS games game solid for me, but 2 was special.

hombreacabado32d ago

i can do without ds3 but the first two are solid.

mariopasta32d ago

Hope they remake this one too. Just like they did with number 1. The remake of Dead Space 1 was perfection

Terry_B32d ago

thanks to the digital pass for it it was not perfect..in fact its difficult to find a working copy since many years.

I had no idea that Bad Company 2 was still running, and only now that I know, I want to jump on! 😥

SonyStyled134d ago

I was able to find games in the Vietnam dlc on ps3 the last week. There were articles on here about the server closure when it was announced in April

DaReapa135d ago

BF1943 is the only online MP game that I was genuinely interested in. Been playing since launch 14 years ago. Hate that I couldn't put in as much time to play as I'd hoped for during the final week.

Inverno134d ago

I got really into 43 when I bought Bf3, and preferred it. Everything that I disliked or found annoying about Bf3, wasn't an issue in 43. Too bad they never bothered releasing it on PS4 or PC.

1nsomniac134d ago (Edited 134d ago )

Dead Space 2...... I wasn't even aware that had multiplayer. Nevermind that it was apparently one of their best multiplayers!

anast134d ago

Once people stop buying micros, these companies close the doors.

Xenial134d ago

Dead Space 2 multiplayer had been hanging on for years - I'd boot my PS3 up to see some familiar names in lobbies. This will definitely be missed!
