Lol not even close

Batman the Animated series, Batman Arkham, a shit load of variations of the characters in the comics, some versions in the animated films. I could go on

emiyaxtousaka2225d ago

Arkham is solid but the great thing about Telltale's version is it's bruce half the time and batman half the time. the comics yeah, the animated films, only mask of the phantasm imo, and the animated series i can't comment because i've only seen a few. there are some valid points but for me the dark knight trilogy has defined batman for me.

He was Bruce plenty of times in the Animated series...Kevin Conroy played such a great role where his Batman was gruff, dark, moody while his version of Bruce was upbeat, soft spoken, friendly. The voice change between the two is what made the series so great as it showed both sides of him

@fox
Agreed. Telltale’s is alright as an Earth 2 type of elseworlds “what if”, but it’s not the definitive version I’ll be coming back to. For various reasons. Too many characters get pissy with Bruce/Bats no matter what. Gordon, Lucius, Vicki, Waller, frenemies everywhere.

John Doe needs to grow a set with Harley already. Not a fan of Thomas Wayne as a pos crime lord. Bruce getting arrested both seasons.

eh just because it's not traditional doesn't mean it's just a "what if". it can still be the best version of the character to date, not saying it is, just saying it could be. i do like how there's so much bruce wayne in it though. we haven't seen that too much, at least in gaming. TDK trilogy did a good job with it though as well as the animated series, and of course the comics. it's also cool that you literally shape the joker's character. that being said there are still issues with it, especially the first season. killing lucius was stupid. viki being evil...not a fan of that either.

TheSuperiorGamer2225d ago

Bruce's dad being evil killed the series for me. Couldn't even try season two because of it.

emiyaxtousaka2225d ago (Edited 2225d ago )

Telltale's series has been hit or miss IMO, and I didn't grow up with the animated series because I'm too young, but I think the dark knight trilogy has defined batman for the modern era. i guess a lot may depend on how the last episode goes. they did some really cool twists with bruce's father and such. it's also taken on mental illness and PTSD with Alfred, so it's cool that they've dealt with mental illness as well. It's better than the Arkham games though, much better, though they're different kinds of games.

lifeistranger2225d ago

The first season was only good when John and Bruce teamed up, and really this season will only be great if the finale is flawless. Don't trust Telltale to handle this though, some of their work lately has sucked.

Batman from the Arkham series is the best incarnation

Arkham Batman is the most classical example of all versions of Batman. He is distant and secretive from his friends and allies, he's independent and self-reliant to the point of being self-destructive, and is tragically incapable of changing and adapting his problems even if he is aware of them.

nintendoswitchfan2225d ago

Especially in Arkham Knight. I think that's the best incarnation of Batman, followed by the animated series. Arkham Knight delved into his psyche and the consequences of his actions as Batman more than anything, IMO, and his secretive nature hurts everyone around him. It's pretty tragic.

lifeistranger2225d ago

Arkham Knight was amazing. Those hallucinations of the Joker were such a great pathway into the inner mind of Batman. Really need to play it again.

OldManWyatt2225d ago

I love the psychological investigation this article does with the Joker and Batman. It’s a fun and interesting read!

lifeistranger2225d ago

It's the one thing that's making this season and even last worthwhile. It better have a good payoff. Way too premature to say that this is the definitive version of batman.

TheSuperiorGamer2225d ago

The Animated Series was, and will always be, the best version of Batman.
