He’s absolutely correct. I think a lot of people fail to forget that the Xbox One X and even the
Pro are hitting far above their paygrade. The Xbox One X would cost you $1000 in PC hardware, especially with the boom in bitcoin. Memory and GPU prices are through the roof. I know, I just built a ridiculously high end machine for my entertainment business and I was lucky to get the prices I did before they shot up to crazy amounts after the holidays.

Regardless, even a 1080ti can have issues hitting and maintaining 4K with decent frame rates. A lot of times you have to put the effects level down to medium to high, if you want to hit 4K @ 30 or 60 frames per second. The good thing about the X is the fact that it is custom and there is a lot of tech behind its power. Using its own transformers per CPU core to meet that particular processors power needs. Not to mention, a GPU that is basically a mix between the 1060 and the 1070ti, which alone right now in PC bucks would cost you $300-$500 or more. The 12 GBs of DDR5 is nuts. Most video cards, including my 1080, have 8 GB. The 1080ti, 11GBs. Which allows the X to not only display 4K, but also high-resolution textures and HDR on top of it. That’s pretty amazing tech for a box the size of a DVR.

Even games that run at 1600p and 1800p look incredible on the system. I have been playing a lot of games lately on the X, both enhanced and back compat titles... and they all look great. That’s not to say the Pro is a slouch either. Ive played a ton of games on it and, even those at 1440p show great increases in fidelity over the base systems. And, the checkerboard solution was a great way to introduce a mid gen system at new gen pricing. I cant wait to see what they accomplish with the PS5 and Xbox 2. The great thing in all of this... is that us gamers are the soul benefactors of healthy competition in the industry. Something many forget, when they root for one systems success over another.

Enjoy what you have and revel in the fact that the best is always yet to come.

meh I would rather just pay the extra money, have the freedom with my graphic options and have true 2160p all the time.

I find it hard to believe that people who make enough money to buy a $1200 PC have the time to fanboy all day online.

Beautiful PR talk, Gamingbolt. Your check will come.

I don't know what these people are selling or if they simply have never seen a real high end PC. Otherwise they would be aware of what one is capable of rendering. I have 353 games in my Steam library alone and every game that offers 4K resolution runs on my system without an issue. That said, there is so much more that takes precedent over resolution, beginning for me with art style. But since they made this about resolution they deserve the truth punted back in their face.

The term "high end" for PC gaming isn't just one specification. High end is a broad category. It's basically all PCs who are well above the norm. Not just PCs hitting 4K 60 fps on every game. A PC hitting high settings at 1800p 30 fps on most games could still be considered "high end" because most gaming PCs aren't going anywhere near that. As a matter of fact, 2K could also fall under that umbrella cause most PCs are 720p-1080p at low to medium settings.

Has Gamingbolt officially resigned itself as a MS damage control site?

rainslacker2657d ago

Resigned itself? It was always that.

Gaming_1st2658d ago

No it doesn't. Cause Phil Spencer said the Xbox X is the only true 4k console. So if he says it, it is right. Darn it.

Rematch director says there’s “room for more than one take of football”

In an industry with countless FIFAs, sorry EA Sports FCs, Sloclap’s Rematch is a brilliant arcade football game that feels incredibly unique. Putting players in the shoes of an individual player, the new multiplayer game is essentially Rocket League without the rockets and cars… it’s football.

Any multiplayer online game that doesn't launch with crossplay is a big skip from me...
