The Top 5 Playstation Trilogies That Should Be Remade Next

Now that Crash Bandicoot is set to go multi-platform, the gold standard of trilogy remakes is set to reach an even broader audience and deliver the marsupial mascot to more homes than ever before.  So with the continued success of Crash Bandicoot: The N. Sane Trilogy guaranteed, I thought it might be fun to take a trip down memory lane, and choose five Playstation trilogies that might be worth revisiting.

That Die Hard trilogy was life back in the day.

My younger brother and I played the hell out of that game. Yippy Ki Yay MotherF*****!

After how phenomenal R&C remake was i'd love for Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal to get the same treatment.

Except for Syphon Filter, Sony doesn’t own any of the franchises listed in this article

There’s a difference between saying “remakes Sony should make” and “PlayStation remakes that should happen”

Scissorman822664d ago

I agree, but the games on the list are synonymous with the Playstation brand. Even as a collaborative effort like we saw between Activision and Sony for Crash Bandicoot, I feel like a similar kind of deal could happen here with Sony leading the charge and reaching out to the proper brand stakeholders.

Gex is synonymous with the 3do brand. Not playstation. It was released on the 3do and was on of the most popular games on the machine. Then later ported to the playstation and saturn etc.

Teflon022662d ago

My first gex game was on n64, so it seems odd alot of times looking at it on ps1

Even more reason for the headline have PlayStation in the headline instead of Sony

Plus Prince of Persia isn’t synonymous with PlayStation

As in Metal gear of the Solid?

LoL of the Yeah!

See a lot of gamers love remakes. It like seeing a gamebthrough a powerful microscope lens.

lptmg2663d ago

like, Gex was the mascot for the 3DO console and his games were on the N64 as well...

Foraoise2663d ago

the first one wasnt on the n64, and afaik it was mostly known for PS. It sold the most there.

I first played it on a friend's PC, what feels like a very long time ago now

How about new IPs that if they're good and successful to be made into a trilogy?

I am happy that I've been able to pick up and try some older games that have been given a facelift, but let's bring on more new that stretch the capabilities of the hardware.

Scissorman822662d ago (Edited 2662d ago )

and there will be: horizon, nioh, death stranding, dreams, spider-man, detroit and the list goes on and on. there is no shortage of new games that will push the boundaries. but there are plenty of titles that could use a revist. and given how masterfully companies like bluepoint games have handled them and vicarious visions with crash, i wouldn't mind a complete overhaul of some of the games that helped shape and mold the playstation brand in its early years.

We have plenty of new IP on PS4 this gen. Off the top of my head..

Bloodborne
Driveclub
Horizon
Knack
Nioh
Detroit
Days Gone
Dreams
Ghost of Tsushima
Death Stranding
Concrete Genie
Wild

PlayStation has many new IP, remakes and remasters are not holding the brand back from new IP.

That's what the list for ps4 needs to look like in this day in age. Mostly mature and gritty for the edge contest. The reason there was a sharp decline in colorful platformers not mario after the ps1/n64 days is because nintendo is better than everyone else at that. Spyro has been irrelevant since long before skylander trash, gex is a generic piece of history, etc. Also prince of persia is obviously now assassin's creed. Sony fans have wanted ps to look darker and thus cooler than the competion since ps3 so all this talk of ps1 remakes lately is coming off as extreme nostalgia.

Nsane numbers. Can we not get a current patch for the trilogy and CTR 60fps and/or 4K? And might as well release a PC port for NF while you're at it, make it happen!

It was the other day I was thinking of picking up crash team racing because I like kart racers like Mario kart and Team Sonic Racing, but I was shocked to find out that Crash team racing is still 30 fps.
