All console sales are up year over year

trunkswd2658d ago

January was also a 5 week month, which hasn't happened in several years. That helped push sales up year on year so much.

PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 75,282,342

Xbox One Total Sales: 36,030,181

Switch Total Sales: 14,455,009

Seems like the Xbox one x hasnt done a lot for Xbox one sales overall because its a 4k console like some people said. I remember fanboys saying that majority of people interested in buying a new console or gaming system would rather the true 4k console xbox one x because its a lot more powerful than the ps4, switch and supposedly a lot of pc. Third party devs are making deals right now for ps5 and xbox two but can't imagine any sane dev team would make deals for the Xbox two over the ps5 when they look at the success of the ps4 and the failure of the Xbox one .

@Jaguar

Consider yourself a fanboy? Hard for me not too after reading that drivel.

mcstorm2656d ago

JaguarEvoled did you just read what you put? The xbox one and the X are not a failure they just have not sold as many as the ps4 or switch.

In fact the xbox one x is selling better than the pro so is the pro a failure?

All 3 are up and even if it's 100 or 1million up its a good thing.

Stop being a fan buy and enjoy gaming because if Microsoft Nintendo or Sony drop out of the market it will be a bad day for the gaming industry

PhoenixUp2657d ago

Except for Wii U & Switch since the former is now dead and the latter wasn’t available in January last year

The PS4 still doing great after 4 years.

RadarRider2657d ago

*sigh* all three companies are doing really well, and Sony has a hold on the market, but they're losing grip to nintendo.

TFJWM2657d ago

Companies doing "really well" don't hid their sale numbers...

RadarRider2657d ago

@TFJWM a report just came out stating that all three companies are doing really well. Please continue to be a hater for the simple fact that you don't own one/two of the systems mentioned.

Lime1232657d ago

you mean all 3 were doing great.......in january.....in us?

@RadarRider

"Sony has a hold on the market, but they're losing grip to nintendo."

LOL clearly math is not your strongest subject. the PS4 has outsold the Switch since its launch last year and the gap between the 2 now is even bigger than before the Switch was even out. how is Sony losing grip to Nintendo when they are selling more PS4 than the Nintendo did the Switch? just doesn't make sense!

Chevalier2656d ago

How is Sony 'losing grip' with their incredible sales? They broke their own record last year and have increased sales year over year. Xbox is the only system losing grip here. Losing every month of the year to Playstation and Switch worldwide. The Switch will over take the Xbox in about a year and a half at the rate its selling.

Impressive how both PS4 & XO sales are up YOY

PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 75,282,342
Xbox One Total Sales: 36,030,181
Switch Total Sales: 14,455,009

What’s not impressive is XO’s inability to sell over 1 million that month like its competition.

PlayStation 4 Monthly Sales: 1,646,826
Xbox One Monthly Sales: 508,842
Switch Monthly Sales: 1,273,241

Lennoxb632658d ago

I think 500k is still impressive for a so called "dead" console.

DialgaMarine2657d ago

They’re also still in the initial hype phase of their “super powerful” model. Getting outsold 3 to 1, when they have a hardware advantage and a game like PUBG as a timed console exclusive, is still pretty bad.

Cyborgg2657d ago

I don't think that's impressive at all. Decent though I guess

Lennoxb632657d ago (Edited 2657d ago )

@Cyborgg @DialgaMaine

Tbh, I don't care what you guys consider impressive. If a lot people here say a product is dead, that product continuing to sell 10s to 100s of thousands per month is still noteworthy for a so called dead product.

moegooner882657d ago

Given the recent launch of Xbone X, I think an increase year over year isn’t that surprising tbh. The PS4 selling almost half million more units than last year is rather surprisingly impressive. Switch sales are also great, but it is less than one year old, so there’s that.

michellelynn09762656d ago

Yeah. And the ps4 and Switch are gonna sell another Million in Feb. I want the X-Box to do better, but they can't seem to get any momentum. Switch still sold a million without any major release. Now that is impressive. MHW helped the ps4, but it would have done great even without MHW. Sony and Nintendo just have gamers hearts right now.
