Is Bayonetta on Switch the definitive console version?

Faster than Wii U and Xbox 360 - but what about Xbox One X back-compat?

Not really, because in 2018, 720p with zero AA can never be the definitive version. Its amazing for a portable, but for home console is two generation behind.

@Corroios

So which in Your opinion IS the definitive console version Corroios?

corroios2677d ago

A definitive version implies evolution. Where you look at both version and you dont need 300% zoom to see diferences.

I think with the switch 2. For now is just easy money with almost no effort whatsoever, besides a couples of frames.

Fair enough, I get what You are saying.

Would you say that a version of a game that was previously only playable on full sized home console hardware that can now be played on the go at similar performance levels is not an evolution?

Interested to hear your thoughts.

I think he's talking pixel counts

I disagree, because there is a LOT MORE that goes into a definitive edition of ANYTHING, than mere AA.
For a home console version, it's probably the best it's going to get unless they re-release it again with whatever comes after the current set of consoles.
It's also the first and only home console version that can be taken on the go natively with no streaming required, and played without a ton of set-up or sit-down, which in and of itself counts as a form of evolution for the version in question.

Of course a definitive edition is more then AA, its rez, better animation, higher rez textures, better effects, better detail. There is no jump from one generation to another. You cant tell the diferences. I dont see the debate.

Its not take the wii U version put it running on the switch that got a better or faster cpu and get more frames.

I will say that the portable version is very, very nice. Really cool for the game to play on the go. But in full screen TV at 720p at 2018 it can never be called definitive version or best console.

I dont even know if its the best that the switch can do. I hope not.

wonderfulmonkeyman2676d ago (Edited 2676d ago )

Okay, then let me rephrase what I said to be more clear: There's more to a definitive edition than graphical considerations.

"rez, better animation, higher rez textures, better effects, better detail", are all just side considerations, that come after other additional details, such as new game modes, maps, characters, and features that weren't in the original versions or that were exclusive to separate versions up until the definitive was released.

It's a very rare thing for any definitive edition to call itself that based upon mere graphical improvements, and even then they don't really do enough to justify the term.

TheFirstClassic2675d ago

720p can be the definitive version if there aren't other versions with higher resolutfions. Definitive version just means best version no?

quent2674d ago

"Two generation behind", do you even 7+1 mate ? And do you even know what a achievement it is for a console its size is to run 7th gen+ games on it compared to the size power draw, heat and unreliability of the previous gen consoles ?

Utterly clueless

Yes because I can slay angels while pooping.

chris2352675d ago

to me personally, yes, it seems like that. bayonetta 1 is an ancient game that may run just fine on the out of date hardware of the switch. bayonetta 2 ist just more of the same. so, both titles can be milked again by bringing them for the switch.

Why Bayonetta 3 Is a Step Down From Its Predecessor

Many fans have been expressing their disappointment with Bayonetta 3. Here's why the recently released game is a clear step down from Bayonetta 2.

MadLad929d ago (Edited 929d ago )

Yet the Switch is much more powerful than the Wii U - the platform the second game released on. So you're just being negative to be negative with that comment.

anast929d ago

The voice acting wasn't as good...

jBlakeeper929d ago

Bayonetta herself doesn’t even look as good design wise.

-Foxtrot928d ago

I thought they focused on big kaiju like fights which felt gimmicky and thy brought this new character in to try and get away from the leading star

*Spoilers*

I mean they pretty much killed 3 big characters. They killed Jeanne, Luka and Bayonetta herself and it's not the fact they died it's how they died, we've seen Jeanne and Bayonetta survive countless things yet they go out by the lamest ways possible.
