2.5 years after this remake’s announcement and we’re getting screenshots instead of substantial footage

RememberThe3572695d ago

It's getting split into three games. This is a massive project. We might see a little at e3 or tgs but I'm still not expecting much. Part of me thinks this will come to the next gen

Godmars2902695d ago

At least three games. My bet is that it'll be milked into five.

Segata2695d ago

3 episodes. 1 game broken into 3 episodes.

UltraNova2695d ago

Hell if they're gonna milk that cow let them do it properly; how many nipples are there on a cow? Thats how many parts FF7 should be.

Smh...

terrorofdeath2695d ago

Let's not forget milking it further with Advent Children DLC...probably.

Lionsguard2695d ago

It may as well just be next gen. It'll work far better on a PS5 than a PS4 pro.

bouzebbal2695d ago

Segata:

original had 3 CDs.
each CD reflects on a different side of the story.
if they manage to make episode 1 up to aeris death it would be great.
my favorite is CD2. Junon, Icicle, Mideel and the weapons!

PhobeB2695d ago

You're absolutely right, the original FF7 is so massive that trying to recreate that to today's AAA standard is an enormous undertaking.

Lilrizky2695d ago

You sound surprised? Theyve been doing this with KH3 and FF15

Seraphim2695d ago

that's Square Enix for you... I remember when FF Versus XIII was announced alongside FFXIII back when the PS3 was in it's infancy. Eventually VS XIII became FF XV after like a decade. Square Enix are painfully slow at developing their games. Which is great when it works. Though hopefully like other companies who are trying to refrain from showing games too early, hopefully Square learns and starts showing games that are slated to release w/in 1-2 years instead of always showing early concepts and teasers of a game that's barely begun development.

_-EDMIX-_2695d ago

Final Fantasy 7 remake started development I believe almost two years before its announcement....

Harkins17212694d ago

They've made plenty of other games in between. XV is the only one to take forever. They just announce games way early. 4 to 5 years is typical of an AAA game. Fallout 4 took 7.

PhoenixUp2695d ago

@ Rem

And yet we still haven’t even seen much of the first portion of the game

-Foxtrot2694d ago

Not to mention holding images back from events

I want to see these pictures

Andrealsant2694d ago

You know how perfectionist Nomura is, every one of Square Enix's games are like that, and that's what makes them all great in the first place so.. let's be patient, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

Harkins17212694d ago

They said April to June ull see their games.

MADGameR2694d ago

The problem is that Japanese developers are so out of touch with gamers now a days, they like to tease too much.

Quote from article: 'Nomura and Hamaguchi mentioned that “while Cloud may look this way, he was a dork. I believe those of you who played the the original would understand what I mean by saying he’s a dorky character.” That said, we’ll see more of the youthful side of Cloud rather than the always-serious one we’ve seen more outside of the original game.'

Yessss! I'm so glad Square has remembered how much of a dorky, fun guy Cloud was in the original game. He was never dark and broody like the Compilation and spin-offs have portrayed him. He was goofy and often said silly things like "Let's mosey!" and "we'll be turned into crispy critters!". Half the party called him "Spikey" because even they thought his hair was ridiculous. He was a much more endearing character in the original game than people seem to remember.

rainslacker2695d ago (Edited 2695d ago )

I never liked the overly broding Cloud that existed outside the main game. I found him rather one dimensional in things after the first game. It's not that Cloud didn't have issues that brought him down, but he wasn't always so emo. Usually, he struggled at appropriate times, not just because it was the cool thing to do. Advent Children was made completely uninteresting because of his personality and sudden change at the end to realize what was important.

Pozzle2695d ago

So true. I felt that way about Vincent in Dirge of Cerberus too. Vincent already had a redemption arc in FFVII. He found Lucrecia in the cave, she forgave him, and Vincent put Lucrecia's spirit to rest by telling her that Sephiroth is dead to spare her from the truth of what her son has become. He was content after that, and ready to start his life again without the guilt of his past sins weighing him down.

And then Dirge of Cerberus came around, and he was back to brooding over Lucrecia and his past sins again. It's like Square forgot what their own characters went through in the original game :/

Start working at home with Google! It’s by-far the best job I’ve had. Last Friday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 5 weeks past. I began this 6-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $85 per hour.. Go this web and start your work.. Good luck.... http://www.BizPost7.com

Chexs19902694d ago (Edited 2694d ago )

I think the brooding part went full on from Advent Children and onwards :O
In the original game he became a bit more of an emotional doll after Aeris was killed, but even then, he didn't have the whole "f**k the world" emo thing going on, as far as i recall :)

Yeah. That’s the first I’ve seen it anywhere near #1.

Mario 64 is great but I wouldn’t put it over Mario World.

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list is a crime.

CUnit123123112d ago

Sorry lol. I wrote the article but 5 of us voted for many different games and majority went on the list then we worked on the list. If it were just my personal top favorite we'd seen some xenoblade and star ocean as well as some others. Thanks for checking out it!

RavenWolfx110d ago

Chrono Trigger at 31 makes my heart hurt.

Zeldafan64110d ago

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list at all is a crime.

The effort here is impressive. Hope it doesn’t get taken down.

fr0sty322d ago

He should have done it in Dreams though, the limitations of having done it in LBP are obvious.

solideagle322d ago

ah Dreams had so much potential, I think they should have released it on PC. one can only dream about dreams sale and popularity on PC. PC has modding/creative crowd and I think it would have been a hit

gleepot321d ago

I love seeing projects like this. So much passion and time.
