When both services are only putting out somewhat decent offerings, who cares which one is better?

blackblades2280d ago

Who cares in general, take these crappy opinion pieces to forums. Vs this vs that.

Princess_Pilfer2280d ago

Especially when they're NOT free. They're paid. Calling them free is buying into a bullshit framing trick used to make the "service" (they don't actually provide anything you couldn't already get for free somewhere else anyways) look better.

Princess_Pilfer2279d ago

No, they aren't. You pay for a service. You're getting them is DIRECTLY tied to you continuing to pay for that service, if you stop not only do you stop getting them, you lose access to the onces you previously had.

They're not free. They're a part of a paid subscription service. A subscription service that is nothing more than a paywall holding online play hostage despite the fact that you already pay for your internet.

Not only that, but your're paying for games you likely *wouldn't have bought if you weren't being forced and have virtually 0 market value.* Why do I say this? Well all the "free" games are 6 months old or older, *well* after the sales for almost every game trickle down to nothing, and I know you likely would never have bought it because you already haven't bought it 6+ months after release when the sales of games are almost non-exsistant, and because the sales of such games are so low the chances that any random gamer buys the thing after a certain point also approach 0 (never actually hit 0, there is some chance you'd have bought it, just not a big one.)

It's the company erecting a paywall for no reason other than that they can (you already pay for your internet) and providing "free" goods that have virtuallly no value to them anyways in order to falsify a sense of value in the service.

IamTylerDurden12281d ago (Edited 2281d ago )

I agree with the article, PS+ is the better selection this month.

PS4
Rime is a great get for PS+, Knack is a AAA that ppl always clamor for on plus, and Grand Kingdom is a solid RPG on PS4. Three good PS4 offerings particularly Rime which is a well known, highly rated and fairly recent game.

Xbone

ACC India is a decent little game but in reality it's 1/3 of what easily could've been given (the ACC collection) and it's basically a 5-$10 bite sized game. Shadow Warrior is a fun game from Wild Hog, PS+ received it a while ago, but now that the sequel is out it really doesn't hold as much value as it did.

PS+ has just been better over the past couple months with Deus Ex, Batman, Rime, and Knack. Tbh, PS+ has been generally very good over the past several months. Games like MGSV, Deus Ex, and Rime are superb additions to the lineup.

Weeblordbad2280d ago

Knack 2 has also been released, wouldn't that the also negate it's "value"? Whatever value even means in the case of games being offered as part of a service.

yomfweeee2280d ago

Knack isn't a AAA title. People wanting Knack just started to be a running joke because people didn't even want to pay less than $10 for that game.

I think both offerings are lackluster this month.

chaos-emeralds2280d ago

Yeah, knack is crap. Even my kids got bored of it quickly.

IamTylerDurden12280d ago

Knack actually is a AAA title and ppl have been crying for both Knack and Shadowfall (on PS+) for years. In fact, it was a "Sony doesn't give AAAs on PS+ criticism". Ppl would cry that Sony gives too many indies and they would ask for Knack (bc it's AAA) month after month.

Strafe2280d ago

@IamTylerDurden1

Knack is dogshite, and so is Shadowfall which is the worst game in the series, it was awful. I'd rather have something else than Knack, it's dire. Rime is something I've wanted to play though so I don't mind, swings and roundabouts and all that.

yomfweeee2280d ago

No it isn't AAA in any way. It literally had no attributes of one.

It didn't have a massive budget.
It didn't have hardly any promotion.
It wasn't expected to sell great.
It wasn't high quality.
It wasn't reviewed great.

S2Killinit2280d ago

PS+ has been “better” for a while now. Personally i dont think there is much of a difference even when people were fussing over games i was just happy to get something new.

The Name "Embracer Group" Is No More, But Don't Say You Didn't See It Coming

A reckless buying spree only to jeopardize it all, Embracer Group's heinous practices have done a lot of damage; it had the downfall coming.

THEY. It's a collective of investors that give no f-s unless the monkey dances for money and delivers. downfall? Urm.. dude... do you understand this is a rinse and repeat process? They won and bailed before plane crashed, the working industry did not. People saw investment money and sold themselves and the industry out like hot real estate, and now look at it. Honestly, you should be more upset with the studios that jumped on board for the carrots rather than those that were handing them out.

Knightofelemia2d ago

Seen it coming. When a fool spends money with out a plan and purchases every thing they see. Those they have purchased feel the ramifications. Now Embracer has to sell off studios to make up for their stupidity. I am just glad Gearbox went to Take Two and not to someone like say Tencent. What Embracer did was stupid and because of their stupidity bottom feeders like Tencent will be circling around picking at the scraps. Next time if there is a next time fully plan something out before whipping out the cheque book. Figure out how you can utilize the company, figure out how they can fit in, figure out how you can work with them and how their games can fit in nicely with the purchase. Being a dumbass with out a plan and a big cheque book does bite you and those around you in the ass.

TheColbertinator16h ago

Disgraceful publisher. I had some hope in them when they saved the THQ properties but now they are a stain on the industry.

Inverno15h ago

It's splitting up, the people who caused this shite show will still be around. Who knows how much more damage they will cause. Or where most will move onto in the future. Industry gotta be careful, you sign yourselves away thinking you'll have funding and security only to be bought up to be fed into a grinder.

A lot of people lost their job while others made a ton of money.

How Many More Victims, Like Garry's Mod, Will Nintendo's Hurtful Crusade Create?

Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."

The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.

gold_drake1d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

i cam guarantee you, that their exclusives alone is what drives switch sales. they sell in the 10s of millions of copies.

nintendo created their franchises to be sort of nostalgia driven, exclusive only on nintendo.

people will always buy the pkmn games as they always bring in new younger fans amd is family friendly

mario kart, the same thing, mario games in general.

zelda games are system sellers. animal crossing for the casual gamers.

nintendo doesnt need third vame devs essentially. they made sure with the switch and the limitations that they looked more to pc ps and xbox.

its sad, but nintendo is more than fine with what they're doing. they positioned themselves to appeal to the more casual gamers.

but to your point, im not sure why they're doing this rly.

Inverno23h ago

Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.

A new Darksiders game please.

banger8817h ago

Really looking forward to hearing more about the Gothic remake and Titan Quest II. I hope both games make it out this year and don't get delayed.

DeadlyFire8h ago

I'm expecting Red Faction. Maybe a few others. They claim to have many things in development.

Psychonaut853h ago

Please something about Darksiders 4.
