Five Nights at Freddy's... wait, what? I do give you kudos for Eternal Darkness, as most forget it existed, but no (Forbidden) Siren or, at least, the first Dead Space? C'mon!
Fatal Frame 2 was good, but Clock Tower was the series I went with in that style instead because it just was more intense to me, especially Clock Tower 3. Nothing's worse than when your character just won't freaking move because you let her get too scared and Scissorman is on the other side of a damn curtain. Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a great game, I agree, and the custom stories only made it even more fun for the most part, but isn't one I played a whole lot, and you're right, I need to play Alien Isolation... I just don't find aliens too scary, though I guess a xenomorph is a different story.
Had to put in Five Nights at Freddy's due to it's impact, you know? It's definitely inspired a lot of indie devs to try different ideas, though more atmosphere and less jump scares would be nicer. As for (Forbidden) Siren... now that's one I missed. Dead Space, though, I love, hence honorable mention. I debated on that one and F.E.A.R. but had to go with F.E.A.R.

Silent Hill 2 is the best :D
