Can Nvidia GeForce NOW Save Gaming on Underpowered PCs?

— PC Gaming Enthusiast:

Earlier this month, Nvidia rolled out the beta for an interesting new service: GeForce Now. This is a game streaming service that’s targeted at those who don’t have gaming-capable PCs and even Macs (which tend to get little to no support when it comes to most games) to allow them to play modern titles through the power of the cloud. It’s an exciting concept, but can it really fix this age-old problem?

I agree with the article, it's going to be a luxury right now. You will need a very fast connection throughout your entire gaming session for this to be worth it. There is also the cost of this when it is officially released, they aren't going to let you use it for free. I can a subscription costing quite a bit of money, and that will put people off.

Buying your own pc will remain the better choice for long time yet.

I'm in shock that some one can make $12929 in 1 month on the internet .

If RAM and GPU prices dont come down it could work I guess but I sure as hell wont pay hourly to play games.

Building your own system is not currently the way to go, because of price gouging and cryptocancer. However, prebuilts can still be had for not much of a premium, and some gaming systems (for example, laptops) can't be pulled apart into hardware components that will work in mining farms or whatever. There is more than one way to skin this cat.

Eventually, the market will stabilize. Only so many people will ever get into the mining craze, no matter how long it goes on. Once the market accounts for them, things will improve. And that's assuming the whole idea of cryptocurrency doesn't come crashing to the ground, as Warren Buffett predicts. That would be the best possible outcome for PC gamers, as there would be a flood of high-end GPUs sold for cheap on eBay and elsewhere, cheap enough to take a chance on them even if abused, and driving down the real-world price of new cards.

How can you save something that you take away completely, and replace it with streaming from a remote location?

I agree with the article and blame myself for getting cold feet in regards to net neutrality. It still amazes me that US ISPs control the government by preventing newcomers to come up with their own isp or preventing government municipalities to launch their own isp.

Lots of fond memories with the Gameboy. It was my first portable console. It's also the last system my parents played as games were getting too advanced for them outside of pinball, Mario and classic Donkey Kong games. 🤣

I never had one but some school friends did.
I still remember the magical feeling of playing motocross and mario bros 2 (i think).. gaming addiction since that very moment

I’ll never forget opening that Christmas gift. I was ill, had a fever, and was screaming with Joy :)

I still have my original GB that I opened up on Christmas morning way back and donkey Kong game it came with.

Still works to I recently picked up a ever drive for a decent price and have been rediscovering some of my all time favourite games like Pokemon, super Mario land 2 and links awakening.

Amazing little system with interesting development and release story.

The story of how Tetris came to be a pack in has been turned into a movie it's that interesting

PS Remote Play on Android TV OS devices offers you more ways to play your favorite PS5® and PS4™ games.

i have a 4K chrome cast from some years ago, not this white one.
does it support remote play as well?
next question: does PS5 and the chromecast have to be connected to same network?

i will try later and update here if no one has an answer, so people benefit.
