Devilman Crybaby Is a Bloody Ode to Old School Anime

Devilman Crybaby is a love letter to people that either grew up watching anime in the 90s or just enjoy the stuff from that period. It ditches the romanticized hero’s journey that exists in almost every anime today, and instead delivers an experience that horrifically disgusts as much as it sexually excites. It’s weird and uncomfortable, but that’s exactly why it’s so much better than anything else this season.
