Yesterday, the team behind the Citra 3DS emulator announced their new project. Yuzu, a Nintendo Switch Emulator for PC. The emulator will be able to do, "all of the things you didn't need it to do!." According to the team
except being able to play the games outside anywhere you are
People just wanna play games. Portable or not
Then they should do the LEGAL thing and buy a Switch!
@Haurus Get real! You know damn well the vast majority of people who download this will not be Switch owners, but rather low lifes who think they're entitled to something for nothing. White wash it all you want but you know darn well that is the truth! Yeah I'm sure Nintendo is just THRILLED to hear this news.
WickedLester That may very well be truth but it will be those people doing something illegal. The emulators themselves aren't illegal.
@WickedLester You do realise those "low lifes" need a $1000 + PC builds to run the Switch emulator. If they can afford a 1k+ PC they sure can afford a $60 game.
@HollowKnight The WiiU emulator didn't take much to run at 1080p. Considering the Switch isn't that much more powerful than the WiiU and that the Switch is actually a glorified nvidia shield, it's gonna be just as easy to run the Switch emulator. You don't need to buy a $1000+ dollar computer for this. If you're using a computer that is 7-8 years old and have anything other than your default intel video card, you can already run it fine at 1080p.
It was bound to happen, as beneficial as off the shelf products are for fast production, it's also the easiest way for emulators to pop up, and unfortunately as much as Nintendo tries to block it, their systems are easily emulated due to the lack of brute force a PC needs to power it, and the security Nintendo used to block it. That being said I doubt it'll be fully ready within the next 2 years as far as full scale playability goes, and by then Switch should have a lower-end SKU if Nintendo stick to their handheld routine and be less than $200 making it an easy buy for Nintendo fans, so the impact this has will be diminished to those who had no plan on buying a Switch, but simply wanted to play Switch games, which again you should just buy the device. I have no problem with emulation so long as you actually purchased the device during its lifecycle.
@Holy This $1,000 PC thing needs to come to an end. You don't need a $1,000 PC to do anything gaming wise. A $400 Gaming PC and a $500 gaming laptop are more than enough to game well and run emulation. Are they high end, No, but in the case of the gaming PC it's above the base PS4, and the gaming laptop is above Switch but below base XBO. This $1,000 gaming PC rumor has to stop. You don't need a $1,000 gaming pc to game. With a $100 - $150 GTX 1050 or 1050 TI, that nasty old family computer can instantly turn into a 1080p @ 60fps High settings in nearly every game. If you want to dip your toes into PC gaming this is my recommendation. It's cheap, super easy, and you can sell the GPU and get your money back if you don't like it.
Imagine a future where PCs were portable and could simply sit on your lap...
On top of your lap. What an age that will be.
Imagine a future where people actually pay for their shit instead of acting like a bunch of entitled parasites.
you mean without burning it?
Have you never heard of a laptop?
Not nearly as viable as a casual portable console for no where near the price. The laptop argument has always been the weakest attempt of grasping straws I have ever seen.
Shiken, believe quite a few people already own a laptop. Don’t think anyone is arguing that you’d buy one purely for an emulator... :/
Fishy But do most people have a laptop that can run current gen games, easily accessible in a public setting, and have enough power to handle the drop in performance after about an hour of play without a power source?
I'mma call bull. There are laptop/tablet things that are intended to be useable with only one hand. They fit in my purse. Unless you're trying to shove the switch in a jacket pocket, there's not much difference. Nobody is arguing that buying a laptop and emulating a console is cheaper than buying the console. That has exactly 0 bearing on the fact that you can, in fact, have a computer that you can play anywhere. Also, lots of people already have them for work, or use a laptop as their gaming PC and just plug it into their TV when they're at home. For those people (I'm not one of them) there's no extra investment necessary to have the portability.
Yea that's why I believe this really won't hinder the sales of the Switch. People who want the switch will buy the switch for its portability.
Well that was fast. The console hasn't even been out a year yet..
Thats what happens when you juat buy someone else tech and jack the price up because you slapped Nintendo on it. The switch is juat a nividia shield period.
@ lttoittosai and its not nintendos fault at all for using inferior security in their consoles???
Their 3DS emulator isnt that good so I don't expect their Switch emulator would be much better
Wow already? I hope this doesn't mess up sales. These gaming companies need to do something about emulators. I would hate for any company games to get emulated. All that hard work for nothing when people can just emulate it. I don't mind them for older games from previous gens before.
Emulators are legal, roms is where it gets complicating.
oh boo hoo, a triggered Nintendo fan dude emulation isn't illegal roms are and you talk about as if someone couldn't just go to the store and buy a new or a used copy and burn it to their PC and there you have it the way it was meant to be played. you BI-- about emulation but let used games pass as if it's any better find something better to complain about because you lost this argument
" you talk about as if someone couldn't just go to the store and buy a new or a used copy and burn it to their PC" I wonder if anyone has ever done that
I doubt it will. It's likely to not have the full functions of the Switch. The question is how will they handle the motion control without the joycon itself? only time will tell but the people that will likely use this probably didn't intend to buy a switch to begin with.
It was done for the WiiU so i dont see why it couldn’t be done for the Switch. Cant wait to see what they’ve come up with ;)
thanks i already got a much more powerful console. no need to waste my time with a subpar emulator emulating subpar hardware. it‘s 2018 for god‘s sake.
lol what console is that and the last time I checked the switch cannot play the breath of the wild in 4k or 60FPS so what's that about being superior
Is graphics the only thing that makes a console superior. Lol Idiot Sony fanboy logic
The Switch is a console that will actually not be affected by this much at all. The reason for a Switch is the simplicity behind its portability. For that reason alone, there is still a reason to get one, more so than other consoles with emulators. Emulators have never killed a console, this will be no different. If anything it give options to Switch owners who legally create their own roms in the form of mods and 4K. So you have easily portable and docked options, as well as PC options. Not a bad thing. Yes there will be those who abuse it, but that is with any good thing. The only difference here is that the Switch itself still has that portability that cannot be easily emulated in a casual environment, not even by laptops.
ahahahahahahaha lol Now the sales of Nintendo Switch will drop to minimum i still enjoy my switch tho But for real , this could destroy switch not cool guys not cool
this will have little to no impact on Switch sales. Not everyone is a nerd with a super powerful PC sat on their mums basement playing illegal buggy crap. Most people would rather have the real thing, like 98% of consumers.
Methinks you don't know how Emulation works.
You have no idea what are you talking about, Switch just lost it's exclusivity it's games can be played on other platform without the need of purchasing a $300 hardware , if this spreads it will have impact , you big ? who knows never before was a console hacked so soon and emulated only time will tell and look at the wii u emulator , botw works 60fps/4k
That's tired hopefully it won't interfere with the Switch sales.
Well I skipped the Wii U and witb CEMU I dont need to buy one thankfully. So guess I can skip the Switch now too.
HECK YEAHHHH!!! I was holding out for this... It felt much easier to be emulated than the 3DS... Now imagine Super Mario Odyssey in 4K.... <3
Guess because it's Nintendo we're promoting piracy now?
Emulation and Piracy are different things. One is legal, the other isn't. Now I'm not going to deny that the vast majority of people will use this for piracy reasons to avoid having to purchase the console/games. However, if you are someone like me who owns the console and has a good PC. I wouldn't mind using this to see what the games play like in 4k 60FPS. I have not, and will not download something I haven't purchased simply because I believe the developers deserve the money for their work. It's a slippery slope, and sadly one that's used far more for bad than good. But just because it exists doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Hence the reason emulation is legal.
Emulation and piracy are different, but the majority of folks will use it for piracy if they are able to. Emulators aren't illegal, but the reason why companies are so iffy about it is because it allows people to gain access to their systems without purchasing the hardware or games, in most cases at least. The reality is that when offered the option between buying and simply downloading, quite a number of folks choose to download instead, looking for any reason to justify it. At least this emulator is only in its beginning stages. There's no telling how long it will take before it actually makes any real progress, but hopefully, it will be several years giving the Switch time to run its course without interference. And those who choose to disagree with a hopes you'll get to play games tomorrow, seriously consider your ethics for a second instead of blatant selfishness.
Thia is good news iam looking for Switch Emulator to play at 4k & 60fps The breath of the waild on wiiu Emulator already at 4k & 60fps and looking more good than wiiu & switch version
