if it is true, then I expect switch sales to double or triple over the years, especially in the developing countries, where a salary of an average man is 200-300 USD a month. They cant afford to pay 50 USD for a game. And they are kids too who wants to play and enjoy like all other kids in the developed countries.

It means emulators of the Switch will be on the PC at some point, so the sales will actually drop

You aren't factoring the hardware as a whole though just the games.

It's a convenience to a lot of people to play portably and at home on the same console and you don't get that with just a PC emulator.

95% of people aren't going to mess with this anyways. Most people if they like something, want to pay for it...don't feel bad paying for something if they can afford it.

Pirating games and emulating takes the "magic" and feel away from gaming...it feels cheap and not special and just doesn't do it for me personally.

It can lead to people becoming fans of a series and eventually buying games too though so there is that too.

Hopefully this doesn't negatively affect sales.

That's not good for Nintendo if true. It means they've gained total control and it's early in it's life cycle. If it is totally compromised they can patch all they want...the hacks will update as well endlessly until they add additional drm hardware to newer consoles. Like the 360. Even then someone will bypass that chip too via hardmod. And you'll be able to play online as long as your patch is up to date. They'll survive. The 360 did.

It is a Nintendo system, they always get hacked quickly it is the optimization of the emulators that really matter...

VersusDMC2701d ago

Nintendo doesn't care because Nintendo games are mostly bought by parents for kids. The Wii was a pirate haven at some point but Nintendo rated E games still sold millions while the m rated games struggled to break a million. Third party's should be more concerned...

FyBy2701d ago

Yeah same like ds and 3ds. Hacked but still software sells like hell. I think hacking can even help hardware sales. And then it can be signal for other people to buy. It can be good for brand.

Dragonscale2701d ago

The switch gets cracked but nintendo 'doesnt care'. LMFAO.

DivineBliss2701d ago

Looks like it might b a hard mod.

ILostMyMind2701d ago

So it began. Nothing good for third parties.

Review - Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo (Switch) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Oliver Shellding: "That, I feel, is the true hallmark of what makes Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo so fantastic. I did not like the character. I did not like the quest. I did not think what I was doing was noble and I thought everyone sucked. But. The game is so well made the level of polish creates such a sheen it glosses over the mental disgruntlement I have. It’s an indisputably well made game that ticks the boxes like it was born to defy expectations. Pipistrello is daunting, but it knows what it has and never tries to pretend otherwise. Good luck, you’re definitely going to need it."
