How dafuq was Nier: Automata underrated?

maybelovehate2741d ago

Yeah, I mean it was a great game but hardly underrated. It got the praise it deserved.

FallenAngel19842741d ago

Not only was the game very well received, it got included in various GOTY lists across many sites and many people’s personal preferences.

Not to mention it sold over 2 million units. Square Enix even stated Nier: Automata contributed a lot to their quarterly profits over the summer and exceeded their expectations.

On top of all that the game’s success saved Platinum’s slumping fortunes, made Yoko Taro’s name more well known to a mass audience, and increased awareness of the Drakengard & Nier series.

Compared to the media'$ overrated milked franchise games this year... my GOTY is severely underrated by the media

FallenAngel19842741d ago

Considering how well the game performed critically and commercially I’d heavily disagree.

UltraNova2741d ago

Now a days if a game doesn't sell 10 millon+ (1 mil day 1) it was either crap or underrated, apparently.

FallenAngel19842741d ago

Ikr. Next thing you know people will be saying Horizon: Zero Dawn was underrated.

InMyOpinion2741d ago (Edited 2741d ago )

Imo it got a little more praise than it actually deserved. The first NieR had a better and more emotional story. Also, Automata is more repetitive than it ought to be. And the graphics are sub-par.

Still, it's a game everybody should play at least once.

I'd say Gravity Rush 2 is way more underrated.

Not even nominated for game of the year in the Game Awards Show is pretty much underrated in my opinion.

Asuka2741d ago

Ditto. Should have been there instead of PUBG imo.

Asuka2741d ago

It is my goty. In fact I cannot recall playing anything from the past 5 years or so that has stuck with me like automata. That ending E tho...

Yui_Suzumiya2741d ago (Edited 2741d ago )

The Last of Us? Soma? Life is Strange? BioShock Infinite? Mass Effect 3? Dishonored? Spec Ops: The Line?

Not downplaying Neir because it is brilliant but there has been other brilliant games as well since 2012.

Asuka2740d ago

Yeah those games are good as well. Just personally automata stuck more with me. Actually never played spec ops the line tho

Snookies122741d ago (Edited 2741d ago )

Right there with you. Anyone who actually made it to ending [E] will understand why it's so deserving. Can't believe there are actually people that stopped after the first ending, lol.

Omnisonne2741d ago

Most of those people would likely be the reviewers and journalists that rushed through it.. I think only a handful of websites went the whole mile to ending [E] that i've read of.

Naw, Demon Souls was really that game

vTuro2484d ago

Patiently waiting for the next Yokofuckery.

gold_drake84d ago

im not sure if they "saved" it, but Taro definitely shook things up with the story telling that hes so infamous for.

especially in times when free to play model was at its peak in gaming.

FinalFantasyFanatic84d ago

I never really felt that way, but I really enjoyed NieR: Automata, I made sure to get all the endings.

jznrpg84d ago

I’m not sure about that but it was good to have and hope we get more games from Yoko Taro that aren’t mobile
