J Station X: A Google Play campaign called Change the Game highlights the diversity of female players and promotes mobile games with female protagonists.
I'm sorry but like a lot of feminist initiatives, this one fails hard. All that has beeen accomplished here, is reinforcing the stereotype that female gamers are mobile gamers, aka, casuals. I know there are a lot of hardcore female gamers, and if I were one' I'd be offended by this.
Yay, more feminist BS and identity politics.... Why are progressives so obsessed with race and gender? There is far more diversity between individuals than there is between race and gender. Don't say that out loud though. Apple's black, female "diversity chief" was fired for suggesting this very idea.
Mobile games? No thanks. Plus I don't think they want to be called "females". What are you thinking Google??
Good job, Gooble! You nailed it! I mean, before this campaign, women didn't play games and there were no female protagonists in videogames! Oh, wait, both statements are false? So this "campaign" is just a usual marketing garbage to please SJWs, huh?
Instead of this "campaign" Gooble must seriously improve quality control in their store. There is a metric ton of emulators and/or roms of old games with ads and "premium" features, carbon copies of existing apps with something scammy inside, pirated copies of already released games, apps that require extensive permissions for basic functionality (like reading messages, access to internet, read/write external storage for a "live" wallpaper app) and so on, the list can go on.
This is so stupid, saying that 65% of woman between certain ages play mobile games is not highlighting diversity in female gamers its highlighting the fact that these women and kids are passing the time and most likely giving their husbands and fathers headaches with all the money they are spending on microtransactions. I do not view anyone who plays mobile games as a true gamer and I see this as a ridiculous campaign spending millions just to push for female protagonists. Has GG and Horizon taught you nothing? The fact of the matter is that men vastly outnumber women in gaming so its stands to reason that games will be created to fit the demographic right?... Wrong. Uneducated devs will put a female protagonist in a historic battle situation for the sake of inclusion no matter the demographic makeup and while real life female soldiers appose the fact that women should be in combat sighting life threatening disadvantages. I love TR and Horizon, Lara is one of my favourite characters of all time but that is fantasy, when you put in historical inaccuracies for the sake of inclusion you are not doing anyone any favours like Ubisoft did with AC Origins because then you sit with tacked on missions like with Aya or the Colosseum mission in a time when it was forbidden for women to do battle let alone enter the colosseum.
