Monster Hunter World First Impression

Monster Hunter World plays like the past Monter Hunter games and modernizes the franchise. The framerate is very shocking on the original PS4, and Capcom needs to fix that pronto. With more polish, this game will end up being something special for both veterans and newcomers.

I hope they fix the framerate because this is a huge seller .

fenome2702d ago

It could definitely use a little TLC. It's fun and looks pretty, but it's kind of clunky and like you said the framerate needs improvement.

I'm pretty sure this is an older build though, I think it's the same demo journalists have been getting their hands on for a while now so hopefully they've had some time to polish and tighten it up.

fenome2702d ago

Can't wait to get into the full game. They definitely need to get their servers in order though, I only got into one match online yesterday, so it's a good thing they're running a beta. I'm more of a solo player anyways, but I'm sure the main game is gonna have some gnarly beasts you're gonna have to squad up for.

As someone new to the franchise, im shocked at how bad it is. I know its a beta, but it animates like a PS2 game... the graphics aren't very good and the performance is bad... I can't stand how they cut monster's frames in half when you are a bit to "far away" from them.

Combat is a trudge and largely uninspiring. Shocked that this game is being regarded as a "highly anticipated" game. Feels like something that would be in a bargain bin.

You are not a hunter and thats ok. Go gather me blue mushrooms and herbs!

notachance2701d ago

that's ok, not everyone is born a hunter

drunkenspy0072701d ago

Everyone has a right to their opinions, but "animates like a PS2 game" and ":Combat is a trudge and largely uninspiring". Pretty sure you're a troll.

lellkay2701d ago (Edited 2701d ago )

Honestly I'm really not trolling. The animations are terrible and remind me of a PS2 game, complete garbage for 2017. I also couldn't stand how they half the frames of the monsters when you get slightly out of range of them... it looks so archaic and dated.

The combat feels like a trudge to me, the enemys barely react to your attacks, you just sit there and trudge them, then get ontop and hammer triangle with a glitchy silly looking animation... again it feels like a game of days gone. Not a full price AAA game.

The only real thing i can say about it that i liked was the monster designs, there some decent design work there.

That lobby system is dumb as balls as well, a Nintendo style friend code in 2017? I swear Halo 3 beta had a normal party up system back in '05 or whatever.

@cha0sknightmare

I can't speak for the interface and graphical issues, but the uninitiated ALWAYS complain about the combat before these games release. It's nothing new. I'm honestly not defending the learning curve (I probably slogged through MH3 for 20 hours before it "clicked"), but if you want to take the time to understand it and really get comfortable with it, the combat slowly becomes some of the most rewarding you will encounter in a video game.

If not, that's fine too. 20 hours is a lot of time to invest in something you're not having fun with.

Welcome to Monster Hunter lol. Excuse me while I put 500 hours into it once it releases...

I played it on pro And the graphics are amazing, you can choose between 3 graphics options, texture, framerate or more details and better shadows, but the gameplay looks like a psp game with PS4 graphics.

DaFeelz2701d ago

I played it on the Pro, on a Samsung 65” MU9000 4K and I was not impressed. I’m gonna blame HZD for my lack of enthusiasm. MHW comes nowhere near HZD. I’ve been spoiled. I tried each of the three settings and all three left me with a shoulder shrug. It’s passable. If HZD didn’t exist, I’d probably be wowed. But, it does exist... so, not wowed. The gameplay was cool though and not having a loading screen pop up every 30 footsteps for a new section of the map, is a godsend. I’m buying it. But certainly not for its visuals.

Played the beta in sp & for my first time play of MH it's not bad.Seeing this releases next month along with Dissidia NT & NNK-2 I have a large back log of games so I'll will buy MH a few months after release.

He's been in most, if not all the games and is iconic to the series. I guess he can be considered the unofficial mascot but every game has its own unique monster as the poster boy.

Because you had fun. I started Monster Hunter with my son on PSP 17 years ago. We put a ton of hours into the games since then. Never did I look back at any game I’ve sunk a lot of hours into and think, I might regret having all that fun.
