School Girl/Zombie Hunter Review (PS4) - GearNuke

Rather than taking inspiration from the action packed High School of the Dead, School Girl/Zombie Hunter manages to make an otherwise fun setting into a completely dull experience with its repetitive gameplay, low quality cutscenes and lackluster story.

Pretty low score. I'd consider this a GOTY contender.

SG/ZH: School Girl Zombie Hunter - PS4 Review | Chalgyr's Game Room

Chalgyr's Game Room writes:

Hoo boy, where to begin with School Girl/Zombie Hunter. I suppose I should start off by mentioning that it’s like some weird cross between Resident Evil and Onechanbara, as weird as that may sound. While I have no doubt the developers set out to do…something, it feels as if they stuck their hands in too many pies, while not really committing to any of them. It has all the bases to be: a fan service game, story driven, an action game, or a comedic parody, yet I found it to never really settle on any of the options it had going for it. Oddly enough, the game isn’t really “bad” per se, more of a weird genre limbo type deal.

Really feel as if the devs still haven't learned their mistakes from Onenchanbara Z2 Chaos. Even the EDF team are slowly improving.

School Girl/Zombie Hunter (PS4) - Review | SquareXO

Rob Pitt writes: People say ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, in this case, you get exactly what it says on the tin! The game involves school girls and zombies. It’s as simple as that. School Girl/Zombie Hunter came out in Japan back in January this year and I really wanted to pick it up due to being a massive Onechanbara fan (set in the same universe), but because it was all in Japanese with no English subtitles I decided to wait and see if it ever hit our shores. As soon as I realised we were getting it I was so happy! Yeah, it’s a budget game where you shoot anything that moves, but it combines a few of my favourite styles of games – Action, Anime, Anarchy…. So i’m going to call it a triple-A game!

Nice review, I give it a 9/10

Yeah, I really enjoyed it. I found the difficulty spike was a bit off-putting and the MP was a little glitchy, but overall I enjoyed my time playing it :)

Bit disappointed how other reviewers gave it low scores - I imagine they haven't played Onechanbara before or were expecting a full on AAA game!
