Warhammer Vermintide Runs at Native 4K on Xbox One X; Developer Targeting 1440P on PS4 Pro

Fatshark confirmed that while Warhammer Vermintide runs at native 4K with graphics enhancements (improved texture and shadows) on Xbox One X, they're targeting 1440P for PS4 Pro.

I'm fine with 1440p (2k). It's a nice resolution bump from 1080p and honestly wish developers would target that instead of 4k (for the PS4 Pro) while maintaining a nice refresh rate.

this screams lack of optimization on the pro. there isn't more than 2 times difference in power. they could easily do checkerboard 2160p on the pro if they can do native 4k on the oneX.

people need to realise its more than just a 40% increase in power from the gpu. the whole way the xbox one x has been built makes it easier for developers from the dev kits to the extra ram, extra bandwidth and custom processor

How do you know? Are you a Dev that worked on the game or a fanboy on damage control trying to find an excuse? The X1X is a better mid cycle update than the Pro. That is a fact that is proven time and time again.

Take a deep breath, you will be fine but just think the X1X hasn't been out for a month and the Gap is easy to see. Just wait as time goes on I think the Gap may get even larger.

Not everyone cares about Persona, a lot of third party exclusives are on the PC and a lot of people only play third party games. It's really not rocket science all it takes is a bit of honesty with yourself and the things you like. You think Gundam Versus is a great exclusive? That's great, understand that most people with a PS4 don't care, don't know what it is and just want to get back to likely a multiplat.

I'm also going to throw some out some free advice. You don't need to be an English master, but perhaps some punctuation besides ellipses and throw in a paragraph break or two. What I just read looks like the ranting of a 14 year old child, are you a child?

That's what I don't get. These people act like PS exclusives are so amazing and everybody wants to play every single one of them.

That's not how it works.

I have a PS4, JUST for exclusives.

So far this gen I own 3 games for PS4, and honestly I would only classify ONE of them as great. That is Horizon.

And there isn't a single upcoming game that has me interested, except maybe the remaster of SOTC.

The rest do not interest me. I guess I should play Uncharted 4 at some point, but I never even got past the horrible intro of Uncharted 3, so I'd need to force myself through that first.

NOT EVERYONE LOVES ALL OF THOSE GAMES.

Im glad you xbox dudes finally have a "beast" of a console but i cant help but wish this was the console that launched instead of the xb1s in aug 2016.

If the past tells us anything its that the most powerful console (og xbox, gamecube, 360) 1st party and 3rd party games are what matters. What will all the power the xb1x offers matter if in 6 months sales nosedive just like they did with the xb1s. I know yall play games and not sales but this battle is between the 199-249 ps4 slim and the xb1x... The xb1s has already been shunned by most gamers and or traded in for the x. If noone is buying the x 6 months from now like they are now and the base ps4 is chugging along with third partys and exclusives... Yall can have your 4k vs 1440p battle. The resolution bump is nice but it needed to run all games at 4k 60 to be a real game changer... Which we all know the ps5 (beast killer) will offer.

Has more than enough games. Just because it doesn't have Sony's monster library doesn't mean it's not a viable or worthy purchase. I enjoy MS's exclusives and many people do. I enjoyed Lucky's Tale. I remember when Contrast was being mocked on PS4 and I enjoyed and defended it as a quality game, which Lucky's Tale is.

Also, The X runs games far better than the Pro, which is the true point here.

Expecting 4k60 as a standard with consoles is kiiiinda naive. The developers, publishers, hardware manufacturers will always take a game that looks jaw dropping at 30 over a game that looks worse at 60fps.

Every PS4 or XB1 game could run at 1080/60 are you willing to take the image quality hit to get there? My gut says you're not.

Not really. This gen was the first gen that PS had a power and/or performance advantage. Well, for half of this gen. This is basically getting back to the norm. When PS5 comes out, the Xbox that comes behind is going to be more powerful. MS isn't going to let the power gap fall in Sony's favor. Look at the hell they've been through this gen by just having lower res.

It'll never happen again. PS5 won't be better than Microsoft's next console, which they've stated they're already working on. They're not going to cede power to Sony again. They've learned their lesson. What's more; MS has more money to invest in their consoles, whereas Sony aren't as financially endowed. Hence the somewhat impotent nature of the PlayStation 4 Pro.

If it were base hardware that would literally be 720p w/base textures vs 1080p render resolution but with double the resolution textures and shadows and more effects to boot... just for perspective for those not in the 4k owners club. 1440p compared to 2160p is absolutely noticeable on a 4k screen. Especially when you consider the pixel jump is 2-3x higher than when comparing on base hardware.

2160p is not always as noticeable compared to 1440p as one might think. All 4K screens upscale and some do a very nice job. Nope. Not native, but very good regardless. Again, resolution is only part of what is displayed on screen. Effects, shadows, AO, etc. etc. and then of course Art style. 1080p textures at 4K or 1440p will look about the same. I'm not promoting one system over another but this fascination with the 4K buzzword gets out of hand quite quickly.

I'm a PC gamer and I could care less who makes the games I enjoy. I don't count pixels I count Head shots. :O

The cpu isn’t a huge upgrade but the gpu is. Even if the cpu is holding it back, it’s not preventing much from a gen8 baseline. If anything it’s only a testament to how powerful the gpu really is... and it’s still clocked higher than the PS4 pro and doing way more than ANY console on the market. The differences between the two systems are noticeable. I’ve spent hours going back and forth on my pro and X. So even if it’s holding it back, the rest of the xb1s and ps4s are being held back moreso with even slower cpu’s

Might be worth mentioning that they never delivered on their promised patch for Vermintide on PS4 Pro. This game badly needed a 60fps mode. I'm not sure what they did but the 30fps implementation of this game was unplayable for me.

When digital foundry did it's tech analysis of the pro they said it looks like a great 1440p console. That's no bad thing if it's that plus higher graphic detail and better/more solid frame rates over the base PS4. I'll take that on all my exclusive Sony titles. I Will be looking to my one X for all my multi plats and exclusives the Xbox team can bring.
