The fighting game from publisher and developer Capcom - Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite - sold 175,861 units first week at retail, according to VGChartz estimates.
These fighting game series have been sitting out for too long. It's time for them to get a sequel.
to be fair, there were three capcom vs snk titles. 1, Pro & 2 but only one SvC Chaos. If there is a capcom/SNK crossover that needs a new entry it is that one.
It's time for a C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!
The article states Tekken 7 might be the best fighter currently available on Xbox, but leaves out important information that it never takes advantage of the Xbox hardware. It never got any kind of patch/boost/upgrade for the more powerful Xbox consoles, meaning it still runs at 720p I believe, resulting in a very blurry look.
Truly wish more devs would respect their products and customers enough to address issues such as these.
What could've been an unbeatable addition to the Versus franchise ends up being a footnote in why publishers shouldn't leave a project hanging with a meager budget.
It had two-person teams instead of the fan-favored 3, and they charged for Venom as DLC instead of including him in the base game, even though Venom was the most-missed omission from MvC3.
Marvel vs Capcom deserved better than Infinite.
MvC3’s mechanics were too shallow, but at least they tried with the roster (THE most attractive part of the franchise).
If they were smart, they’d go back and do a semi-reboot of MvC2 with a hand-drawn style, and just include Marvel characters.
Avengers vs X-men would be infinitely cooler than anything watered down with old Capcom characters. I don’t need Ryu to fight Iron Man…. We wanna have Hulk fight Iron Man more.
I thought the series went into hibernation. The property rights debacle was an understandable reason. It is a pain in the ass. Old games getting their soundtracks removed, games getting taken off of the store, etc. When they announced infinite I went berserk because I understood the trouble they went through to make that happen. They got hype to 100 and then took a giant dump on it. We didn’t deserve that, mvc didn’t deserve that.
I want a capcom versus game. They have enough characters to do it and the budget and properties aren’t an issue
I like infinite but the roster is terrible. Capcom needs to remake mvsc2 asap
Words can’t describe how abysmal this is for a series as prolific as this.
- Marvel vs Capcom 3 sold more than three times than Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite in its first week, with is an estimated total of 645K. The PS4 version of MvC:I wasn’t even able to sell better than the 360 version of MvC3 in its opening week.
- Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite sold less than a third of what Tekken 7 and Injustice 2 sold in their opening weeks, with estimated totals of 530K and 585K respectively.
- Pokken Tournament Deluxe sold better than the PS4 version of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite in the same week, and that’s just a rerelease on a console with a lower install base compared to a new game entirely on a console with 10x a bigger install base.
Capcom and Marvel should be ashamed of themselves for screwing over longtime fans with controversial design decisions and thinking the buying audience would still support them regardless.
Capcom shipped 900k copies of the game, so this is a bit weird tbh.

Shoulda just gave us all our umvc3 characters they were legally able to with a good amount of new characters and more polish on the graphics.
Story mode was a waste of resources and tbh the demo of it only caused me to wait longer to buy the game after previously buying mvc3 and umvc3 on release date.
Shame too because despite its shortcomings, the gameplay is as fun as all the other vs games with the new tag mechanics making it all feel fresh.
I'm generally curious how much different the sales would have been, if they hadn't omitted the Fox Marvel universe characters. If characters like Wolverine and Dr. Doom were still in the game, I would have bought it day one, but now I'm waiting for a complete edition and a price drop.
