Hardcore Gamer: "If there’s one thing this generation has had a strong emphasis on, it’s remasters. Whether it’s straightforward action games or long-winded RPGs, publishers are rehashing a lot of their properties to bring upon nostalgia and make the franchises relevant again. Bandai Namco hasn’t really been taking advantage of this, though, as the Japanese-based publisher has only recently gotten back into the swing of things with the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series. Fortunately, another CyberConnect2 game has been brought to a new set of platforms, one that has fallen out of favor over the years: .hack. Instead of bringing the original series, which hasn’t aged particularly well, Bandai Namco has decided to remaster the sequel, G.U. This is a divisive series primarily due to it being broken up into three games over the course of ten months, something that could be considered a prologue to how episodic games are made today. Fortunately, it offered a lot to be excited for, namely an interesting cast of characters and a fascinating world to explore. Is .hack//G.U. worthy of the remaster or does The World need to be reset once more?"
.hack (Dot Hack) is a gaming series that started when technology was still evolving and growing. These games showed us some of the horrors but also the best parts of online gaming. But these games are decades old, and perhaps it's time for a remake, a remaster, or even a game in the series.
the OG games, yes they do.
but.. they are very niche to begin with.
bk then, i only knew one person who played the games, beside me.
The Xenosaga trilogy also needs a remake or at least a remaster. I never got into .hack when they came out on the PS2 I would try them out. A remake or a remaster would be great I am not paying an arm and a leg for the original games.
Anime tie-in games are nothing new, but they often fall short of fan expectations. The .hack games did it right, and developers could learn from them.
Today Bandai Namco is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the .hack series of JRPGs developed by CyberConnect2.
Played the hell out of the original games back in the day, but never got to the GU series.
Was really hoping this was a big compilation of the games, but oh well lol.
