Sonic Forces Review | Gamereactor

Sonic Forces doesn't come close to restoring Sonic's reputation in the third dimension, and perhaps suffers even more with it coming mere months after Sonic Mania did such a good job.

Another trash 3D Sonic game to add to the list, not surprised at all. When will Sega learn that Sonic belongs to its 2D roots, even after mania they will continue with this on rails 3D nonsense. Mario is still successful today because it still plays essentially the same as it did in the 80s and 90s, even the 3D versions play like the 2D games. 3D Sonic is a monstrosity compared to the joy of playing the 2D Megadrive adventures.

It can do 3D...Sonic Adventure proved it can work, it wasn't perfect but the foundation to build on was great.

It's just they bring in new characters when they have too many to begin with, rely on flashly stuff instead of good level design, have short levels and hardly any replay value.

I think they need to reboot the modern franchise after this and return to Classic Sonic, none of this time bending stuff, I think Classic Sonic would work better in a 3D environment. I also think they need to read the UK Sonic the Comics for inspiration on character designs and story...Amy was better done in that comic then what she was turned into in these games.

did at least play the game before coming on here and saying how trash the game is or you going by what others had about the game?

Do you need to play another 3D Sonic that has all the same drawbacks as the other 3D Sonic games to be able to say this one is trash to? Most reviews are giving this 5 which to me is a trash score, no surprise really since it's essentially the same game as the last few. If I was Sega and I had a mascot that could rival Mario I'd want to produce games of a far higher quality that this, how many more mediocre games must they make before they realise that the current 3D setup isn't working?

Here are some mechanics i believe would help making a good 3D Sonic:
-Parkour mechanics that instead of being just the jump & run that every Sonic game has, be like Prince of Persia where you need to hold R1 to execute wallruns, swing around, etc.
-Bring back the original characters concept from this game, but instead of putting it on the main story (where Sonic will steal the spotlight) just make it an online feature where you need to level it up and earn more costumizables.
-like the previous point mentions, an online mode where you race other players. You can use the Sonic characters for fun but to play ranked races you need the OC character.
-Create more interesting boss fights that aren't just pursue & hit.
-Create longer stages.
-Make a more aware Sonic like in the Sonic Boom show where they always poke fun about the franchise.
-For a story concept, "Sonic Dimensions" where he travels across his multiple reincarnations and meet the likes of Sonic Boom, Unleashed, classic, etc. That would also allow for different skin unlockables (werehog, excalibur, classic looks, etc) for the characters to race on Versus and Online modes!

I knew it. I hoped it was better, over all after reading EGM votes (it was EGM, wasn't it?).
But, once again, they released another chapter to forget of the blue animal. At least this time they released Sonic Mania and i wouldn't dislike Sonic 1+2+3+S&K with HD graphic :D
